Although Mike Woodson believes the New York Knicks should keep Iman Shumpert, the coach wasn't able to assure both Shumpert and the public that a trade won't be made between now and the Feb. 21 NBA trade deadline.

Woodson knows any potential trade is "out of my hands," including a reported deal involving Shumpert and the Phoenix Suns' Jared Dudley.

"I don't think you can ever tell a player he's not (being traded)," Woodson said on Sunday. "That's kind of out of my hands. If the owners came to me and said we have to do a deal, you do the deal.

"But I sat him down and I told him. He knows how I feel about him. I mean, my daughter jumped me last night about that trade rumor. She called me and said 'Daddy, you're not trading him,' because they all went to Georgia Tech together. Man, I'm like 'Iman's going to be right here with me.'"
The Phoenix Suns are again trying to acquire Iman Shumpert in a trade with the New York Knicks.

The Suns appear willing to give up a package that includes Jared Dudley and a future first round pick, according to sources.

The Knicks so far have shown no eagerness to seriously entertain trading Shumpert, as the front offices remains high on him.

The Suns tried to acquire Shumpert in a sign-and-trade last offseason involving Steve Nash.

He's a great defender though. I understand the offensive issues he's always had, but I was starting to notice a bit of improvement in his long 2pt shots prior to his injury.

Right now it just seems like speculation, and hopefully the Knicks don't make any rash decisions. The defense was fine without Shumpert, but that was also when we played Brewer frequently. Now that Shumpert is back and struggling to get to full speed we've basically made Brewer obsolete. And especially if another team like the Suns sees value in him once he's 100%, then we need to keep him.

Yeah his offense has always been shaky, but defensively he's our best perimeter defender hands down.

Its going to take him time to get back into rhythm, especially after a injury like the one he had, so I dont understand why they would look to trade him, but Dudley and a 1st is a damn good deal for him.

Hold on Melo said Shump aint going nowhere..

[background=rgb(244, 243, 238)]In Carmelo Anthony's mind, the New York Knicks should not belong in trade rumors because they don't need to swing a deal before the Feb. 21 NBA trade deadline.[/background]
[background=rgb(244, 243, 238)]While Iman Shumpert has been involved in rumors, Anthony believes the Knicks shouldn't trade him.[/background]
[background=rgb(244, 243, 238)]"We don't need to make no moves," Anthony said. "No, we're good. ... What are we going to go get? I don't know what we going to go get for (Shumpert).[/background]
[background=rgb(244, 243, 238)]"Shump, he ain't going nowhere. He ain't got to worry about that. The Knicks shouldn't even be in trade talks."[/background]
So Shump aint going nowhere lol

Plus he's our only option to slow down faster Guards in the east like Rondo, Wall, Kyrie, etc.
