yeah its just onna those things. it didnt replenish itself this time i suppose.
Hey man, im Dave over at CenterStageSports. I wanted to say that I will do whatever I would have to do to support the large influx of data the server would have to handle. Like ive said before, we will add a image uploader and a space to house them. We would also carry over the cut gallery.Hello, SI -- long time, no speak.
Here comes the typical slow momentum/traffic of the new year - happens every year. Actually, Sal (Rip) and I talked on FB yesterday about this. Though some might not know me well, I was onboard here for the first 6 years all the time. Life and my 8-yr old daughter have made my priorities change a bit. However, I do re-up the domain name and pay for it annually.
Here's my thoughts for whatever decision is made (I support whichever)
SI TRUE PROBLEM - As the site starts its 9th year - yes, 9 years, everyone has to remember age of the members. Most members that frequent the site typically run from ages 13-17. As the site gets older, so do its members. That's why you saw us in previous years try to find new members -- you have to. As the members get older, priorities change as education, relationships, and employment become a larger part of life.
MERGER - Godfather's Say - The leaders of SI have the final say - they're the ones who frequent the site the most and have duties to keep it active. We do have loyal members - that's why SI is still around.
Here's some things that would be needed for SI to stick around:Here are pro/cons of merger:
- New, younger board leaders - there has to be a good mix, so that the younger guys have a say and can bring on new members to the board
- New members, period - need to have new blood, new opinions to help stir the pot
- Re-emergence of leagues -- find the members and good leaders to get it started
Now, going down with the ship is a nice sentiment, but I honestly would rather hear more about how to make SI active again. What are other sports forums, message boards, and facebook accounts doing to entice activity?
- Unless the other site has a paid server, the site will not handle the merger as VPB
- There are way too many posts, with large graphics for a small server -- that's why bronco has SI on his soccer site server, with advertisements on SI that help pay for it
- The other site expresses gratitude for gfx and cuts, yet has no image uploader or space on its site to house them
- The site does have fresh members and activity, no matter the age - we've all dealt with younger members at one time or another
- the site is willing to take on part of staff and all members, regardless of previous confrontations
- IPB knowledge of our staff would help with transformation at CSS
That should be the ultimate goal -- keeping the active members of SI happy, while encouraging new blood.
This means wherever SI decides to place its name at.
I wish everyone good luck with a tough decision. I would say I promise to be active like I once was, but my daughter and her select soccer and volleyball career, along with my tournament softball team have more precedent at age 40.
I have talked to a few on FB or via email recently. Please, do not hesitate to contact me.
Same opinion !I think the forum needs to revamp. A whole new process of running, fresh slate, something exciting to get people going again and to bring in some more members. I don't think SI is even close to being done.
Yeah, one of my main complaints is nothing ever changes, aside from the board upgrading. Seems like it's always the same thing, we need to think of ideas to get things going. I don't know how to put it, but we haven't done much to get the attention of people. The activity has went down, the sim leagues don't work, not much discussion going on. I know for me, I like different things. Seems like we've went away from a lot of the things we used to do. Maybe someone new to be in charge? Someone who has the time and commitment. Not that any of the Admins are bad, just seems like the commitment hasn't been there compared to years past. People getting jobs, going to college, having a girlfriend - All makes a difference. I've noticed a noticeable difference in that aspect. I'm gonna have to think of good ideas.
