[background=rgb(245, 245, 245)]Sources say deal will morph to include third team to take Calderon, w/Detroit at front of line to land Spaniard after chasing him all season[/background]
[background=rgb(245, 245, 245)]ESPN sources say Pistons poised to send both Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye to Grizzlies to acquire Jose Calderon as part of Rudy Gay deal[/background]

The Toronto Raptors are active in trade talks with the Memphis Grizzlies for Rudy Gay, according to sources.

The Raptors are believed to be the team most serious for Gay.

The framework of a workable trade has not been established.

Sources say the Raptors have made Jose Calderon and Ed Davis as the core of a trade offer for Gay.

Sources also believe that a trade involving the Raptors and Grizzlies could expand to other teams.

The Grizzlies are motivated to trade Gay due financial concerns even though they made a cap-friendly trade last week with the CAvaliers.

I just hope we can don't give up too much. Seems like the Grizzlies want a whole lot.

Saw this trade lol. With Hollinger on board in Memphis it may actually be realistic.

Rudy Gay is so overpaid. I'd much rather have Ed Davis.

Ed Davis has definitely made some big strides too this season. I've always thought Rudy is a little overrated though it would be cool to have one of the better athletic teams in the league through this trade. Though Ed Davis can definitely throw it down sometimes.

TUESDAY, 12:46pm: As they try to find a way to land Gay, the Raptors are engaging teams about a possible three-team deal, but are having trouble finding a taker for Calderon, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports (via Twitter).

Eh

Im not sure if its the Uconn bias from me or not, but i dont think Rudy is that overrated. Overpayed? absolutely. 100%.

He's still a guy who can put up 20 in the right place

Yeah but it will probably take him close to 20 shots to get those 20 points.

He's one of the most inefficient "scorers" in the league and is a poor defender.

Take 20 shots, make half, score 20 points

How is that bad?

It can't be lost that Ed Davis has shown tons of improvement this year, as Rios said. That's not exactly giving up a player who you have no confidence in. This could bite the Raptors in the ass for cap reasons and just giving up a big time player.

Considering how unlikely that is? He's shooting like 41% on the season.

He's only shot 50% or better this year in 9 of 42 games, I may have been generous in the 20 attempts now that I think about it.

4:35pm: If and when the deal is finalized, the Grizzlies are also expected to receive a second-round pick from the Raptors, according to Stein.

4:30pm: According to Stein (via Twitter), the Mavericks are another potential landing spot for Calderon, though Dallas is reluctant to part with Vince Carter, who the Grizzlies would want to replace Gay. Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com made the case this morning for why the Mavs make sense as the third team in a Raptors/Grizzlies deal.

4:23pm: The Grizzlies and Raptors have a deal in place that would send Gay and Hamed Haddadi to Toronto in exchange for Calderon and Davis, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein (via Twitter). An agreement hasn't been finalized yet because it figures to eventually include a third team, possibly the Pistons, that would acquire Calderon, says Stein (via Twitter).
