The Detroit Lions hoped Titus Young would step up in his sophomore season to become a dangerous compliment to wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
Instead, Young's considerable immaturity floated to the surface again. The final straw came in Week 11, when Young -- the team's second-round pick in the 2011 draft -- lined up in the wrong spot on the field multiple times against the Green Bay Packers. It was reportedly done in an act of defiance, leading to the team's decision to deactivate him a week later for conduct detrimental to the team.
He never played another snap before being moved to injured reserve two weeks later.
In a mysterious bit of timing, Young took to Twitter on Tuesday to both defend his actions in thatPackers loss and express his wish to stay off the field if he's not a active part of Detroit's gameplan going forward.

Like I said I never been selfish but if I'm not going to get the football i don't want to play anymore

Never have I ran the wrong route, just put my self where the ball was going
Though Young has had a continued supporter in veteran wideout Nate Burleson, it's clear the team has lost its patience. Center Dominic Raiola used an expletive to describe Young back in November and said the team had "moved on" from him. Last month, coach Jim Schwartz told media membersthat Young was scheduled for a knee procedure before adding, "unless he doesn't show up for it."
Young's tweets do nothing to enhance Young's already damaged reputation. He's writing a ticket out of Detroit, while presenting himself as a risky option for 31 other teams. Young has talent, but his attitude and behavior make him easy to pass on.

How has he not been cut yet??

I'd be shocked if he was on an NFL team next season

Kid just does not get it. Any chance of him getting a second chance is likely gone due to these Twitter remarks.

when calvin is on your team, you wont be the #1 option, no matter who you are. be the #2 and be happy, if not; kick rocks.

I like how he said "i don't want to play anymore."
Good for you, then GTFO out of the league because no one is going to miss you. Have fun in the CFL or something and enjoy thinking about squandering a nice opportunity in the NFL.

He wouldn't be a #1 on the Jets. He wouldn't even be our best slot receiver.

But he has speed and can make plays and the Jets need those types of guys

Wouldn't even be your best slot receiver? lol. The Jets probably have the worst receiving core in the NFL.

Only on a team like the Jets would Tone be a #1.

He'd be the #5 WR on the 2012-13 Packers

No he is not. It might be close for Jones, but not Nelson. Holmes isn't that good
