Alvin Gentry has been fired as head coach of the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns have a 13-28 record as they rebuild following the departure of Steve Nash.

Gentry became interim head coach of the Suns during the 08-09 season, replacing Terry Porter.

Gentry led the Suns to the Western Conference Finals in 2010.

Elston Turner and Lindsey Hunter are candidates to become interim head coach, according to Yahoo! Sports sources.

If anything, the Suns have overachieved under Gentry until this season. With one of the worst rosters in the league, he seemed to always have them flirting with the 8 spot or at least around there. It finally fell apart. He'll get another HC job somewhere and do pretty damn well. Dwane Casey isn't much of a coach and will be out after this year. Maybe Toronto hires Gentry going into next season.
