Last years draft was meh but I still dont like Tristan that much.
cheato will probably own me with why he doesn't suck and sure he's young, but he hasn't impressed me

Only Guy I could suggest is kawhi over him or maybe shump , bit waiters is sick so I guess it leaves kawhi

They were not going to draft Kawhi, and I doubt Shump was even on their list

They were deciding between Tristian and Jonas at the time, and because they have Varejao and Zeller now, it's a fine choice to pick up TT.

I'm not a huge fan of TT, but he will do what he's projected to be, which will be a 14-9 guy most likely

Jonas didn't want to play for the Cavs, they would have had a Rubio situation had they taken him.

And Kawhi Leonard landed in a perfect situation, who knows how his career goes if he doesn't get drafted by the Spurs.

Draft was terrible, they took a high ceiling big who at least has a high motor if he turns out not to be good.

Cavs really screwed themselves with that TT pick last year.

explain?

I don't see a better choice that Tristian at that spot. Like cheato said, Jonas did not want to play in Cleveland. The trade value for the #4 pick was low (draft was Kyrie, Williams, Kanter, and then a significant drop off). BK'12' was not an option with Kyrie now. There wasnt a SG anywhere good enough for #4 (plus now they have Dion). Kawhi benefited from being on a mature Spurs team (which the Cavs aren't yet), and would have been a reach at 4 too.

Thompson was the correct pick

Well, Jonas was the better choice, but if he didn't want to play for them, then that's another thing. Though I find it hard to believe that he would be willing to play in Toronto and not Cleveland.

Exactly. Thompson was a reach that high last year, which basically forced them into reaching a little for Waiters this year.

Kyrie at 1, Jonas at 4, and then TRob at 4 this year. That's better than Kyrie, Thompson, and Waiters.

And if I remember, Jonas didn't want to go to Toronto either. But look where he is now, he isn't in a position to force where he wants to play.

They didn't "reach" for Waiters because they took Thompson last year. They could have taken Barnes, who filled a need and no one would have called it a reach, but thankfully they avoided him and took the guy with a much higher upside.

Waiters at 4 was a reach, no way around that.

Because the national analysts didn't rank him top 5?

If you gave him a junior season and another off-season to develop in college that Thomas Robinson got, he would have put up astonishing numbers, not to say his numbers weren't great last year.

There's a reason underclassmen go higher in the draft. You have to predict where they would have been as a player had they stayed as long as the older guys. Waiters would have dominated college had he stayed a 3rd year like Robinson. Dynamic player.

Steve Blake has fined $25,000 for directing inappropriate language toward a fan.

Blake engaged in an argument with a fan in Friday's loss by the Los Angeles Lakers to the Clippers.

Dion was a reach because after the tournament his stock was in the mid-teens. I'm not saying it wasn't a good pick, I'd rather have Dion that Barnes (surprise surprise), but it was a reach because at the absolute highest he goes is 8 to Toronto.

But taking Thompson didn't cause them to take Barnes because they could have just as easily taken Barnes this year, they just didn't.

I was talking about Harrison Barnes, who they probably would've taken at 4 in LAST YEAR'S draft if given the opportunity, and also had the opportunity to pick him this year, but didn't.
