The Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry have agreed upon a four-year, $44 million extension.

Curry was limited to 26 games last season due to ankle issues.

The Warriors drafted Curry with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Curry enters the 12-13 season with career averages of 17.5 points, 5.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

If Curry can remain healthy, he'll live up to that contract. He may not be worth 11 million a year, but everyone in the NBA is getting overpaid these days (shows how much the lockout helped). He's their franchise plater right now, though, so they couldn't afford to lose him.

Stephen Curry received financial security from the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, signing a four-year, $44 million contract extension.

Curry has been a very productive NBA player when healthy, but he has dealt with persistent ankle issues.

"I thought the deal was too good to pass up right now," Curry said. "I've been through a lot of injuries the past year and a half. It's back strong and ready to go. ... I'm just excited about the future."

"We think we got a pretty good deal here," co-owner Joe Lacob said. "For a guy who, if he went to free agency and was healthy, frankly would make more. No question about it. And maybe the max."
