The Boston Red Sox have placed first baseman Adrian Gonzalez on trade waivers, according to Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com.

While many players are routinely placed on trade waivers only to be removed once claimed, the move is an indication the Red Sox could potentially make Gonzalez available this offseason.

Gonzalez has hit .304/.349/.478 with 15 home runs in 516 plate appearances this season. He is in the first year of a seven-year, $154 million contract.

I'm confused by this. Is it personal? Because yeah he's not hitting a ton of HRs but he hasn't played god awful either.

not personal. everyone is put on waivers

Dodgers will 100% put a claim on him, but I don't think they will trade for him. And some jackass team might claim him just to block the dodgers like AZ(they're the only NL team I could see doing that anyways)
so this is all meh

Doubt they'd actually trade him anywhere if he was claimed. The like article said, probably just seeing interest for the off-season, still don't he's traded then though.

I think any contending team would put a claim on him...

He's going to be pulled back anyway

The Dodgers are not the Yankees of the West, Dodger fans haven't earned the right to assume that they're getting every top player yet :p

no not that. I was confused because the article said this might be to try and gauge the interest in him for the offseason if they want to move him. I'm wondering if they want to move him in the offseason because of personal reasons.

like others have said, I don't think they actually trade him but if they want to... idk... lol.

Still aren't even on Yankee/Red Sox level

Going to change though, Steinbrenner's kids are being pussies and are going to try and get and stay under the luxury tax by two years, so un-Yankee like

I'm still confused to this day as to why news outlets keep reporting MLB waivers as if they're a big deal.

Because Cherington is a dipwad and might want to re-build rather than pay him the gigantic contract we just gave him.

so the dodgers indeed claimed Adrian as I said they would

Confirmed: It is indeed the Dodgers who have also claimed Beckett. #RedSoxTalk

i've secretly wanted Beckett for a few years. figure he needs a change of scenary

fuck Ned Colletti and his damn Harang and Lilly contracts
we're going to have so many veteran pitchers with young guys in the minors who are close to major league ready but are blocked by assholes

Blockbuster: red Sox, Dodgers working on deal that would send AGon, Crawford, Beckett and Punto to LA. Hurdles remain, but closing in
