Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka has reached agreement on a four-year contract extension, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Welp... Guess this spells out Harden's future in OKC.

Harden's a RFA isn't he? They could match any offer that any team offers him on the market. If so, they have the ability to bring him back BUT, whether the Thunder want to pay the contract though is another question. Not sure what OKC's financial situation is.

IDK if they're willing to pay the lux. They were going to spend into the luxury tax if they matched Harden's inevitable max deal regardless of how cap friendly Ibaka's deal was.

The Thunder have reached an agreement with Serge Ibaka on a four-year contract extension worth $48 million, according to league sources.

Ibaka could have become a restricted free agent after the 12-13 season.

Oklahoma City now has three of their young core players signed up over the long-term as Ibaka joins Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

James Harden is also eligible to sign an extension this offseason.

I love how most people hate super teams like the Heat. But if its built through the draft its ok, if you trade for one thats wrong. WTF?

People want the Thunder to somehow keep Harden, which pretty much would guarantee them 1 championship. I just dont get it...

What people don't like is that the trade off to acquire "super team" members are usually tremendously lopsided. Not to mention the collusion of players to form the teams. The Lakers barely gave up anything for Howard or Nash. The Heat didn't give up anything for Bosh or LBJ. At least the Knicks had to give up a boatload of good talent to get Melo

The Sonics/Thunder had to give up on winning and making money, and the organization used superior talent scouting and player development abilities to build their super team.

What's more impressive: the man who fixes up a broken down muscle car, or the man who buys said car?

Serge Ibaka's base salary for his four-year extension is worth $49 million, with an additional $2.5 million in potential bonuses for achievements such as being named NBA Defensive Player of the Year and being on the All-Defensive first team.

Ibaka's salary impacts the ability of the Thunder to offer extensions to James Harden and Eric Maynor.

Ibaka finished second to Tyson Chandler in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Well yea some of these trades are lopsided. But how can one say there is a right way and wrong way of building a super team? They followed all the rules and the teams acquired talent from other teams who couldnt do so.

I may be wrong, but I don't think people have a problem with the TEAMS for acquiring these players, but rather with the players...
