Obviously depends on the depth of both draft classes, but yeah, simply because you have to rebuild. You can't flat-line in the NBA. What if the Sonics/Thunder had kept Ray Allen when they got Durant and had tried to make the playoffs? Definitely wouldn't be in the spot they are in today.
