Stern met with the media after the Board of Governors held their annual summer meeting, and said the league is looking to add possibly $100 million in revenue by permitting small advertising patches on uniforms starting in the 2013-14 season.
At any point in the game, officials can now check video replay on all flagrant fouls.
Officials now can use video replay in the final two minutes of overtime to decide whether a defender was in or out of the restricted area around the basket on charge and blocking fouls. Replay also can be used for goaltending calls in the late stages of games as well.

In September, the competition committee will look at flopping and fouls away from the ball.

I guess advertising on jerseys really does have a chance at coming to the game. It makes sense financially but as a fan, it just looks tacky and takes away from the jersey.

Yeah I agree. At least they said "small" patches though, shouldn't be too bad.

Glad they're gonna review late goaltending, we lost a game to OKC last year because of that bullshit.

As fan of a team with no money, I want all the ads we can get. Sadly, ours will probably be used by the Maloofs to advertise cell phone covers

Might as well change the team's name to Sacramento Maloofs cause that's what is going to be written across players' chests

I don't see why they can't just do something like this for a few games a year:

Agreed, especially if they are done well.

I mean the Hornets wore these two years ago for like a month and it didn't bother me:

They make money...sounds good to me.

Plus it will just be small little patches on the shoulder like was said before, so I honestly don't think it will be a big deal.

Yeah but the small patches now are usually memorial ones. Not advertising companies.

Shouldn't be a big deal. After all, this is a business and it's a business decision. Some should have Fig Newtons, in big letters, on the jersey

The NBA Board of Governors approved the inclusion of advertisements on game uniforms for the 13-14 season.

Small advertising could generate $100 million in new revenue.

"The view is, that the teams would need a significant time; one, to sell the patch; and number two, for Adidas to manufacture the uniforms, because the patch that would be on the players' uniforms would also appear on the jerseys at retail," said Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver.

Professional soccer teams have long had advertisements on uniforms and the NBA is using their numbers as projections for revenues.

So it's said and done. I just hope the advertisements actually look alright and don't take away from the jersey.
