The Lakers continue to pursue a trade for Dwight Howard, but there was no face-to-face meeting between Mitch Kupchak and Magic general manager Rob Hennigan on Tuesday.

The Lakers are prepared to trade for Howard without an assurance on a long-term extension.

But it is unclear if the Magic would trade Howard for Andrew Bynum without an assurance from him.

Both the Cavaliers and Rockets are prepared to be involved as a third-team.

If a Howard trade isn't feasible, the Lakers are prepared to walk away and resume extension talks with Bynum.

Sources say the Lakers' position to acquire Howard has been strengthened by bringing in Steve Nash two weeks ago. Sources also say reports of friction between Howard and Kobe Bryant are "overblown".

Howard attended Tuesday's Dodgers' game in Los Angeles from a luxury suite. He appeared on the JumboTron in the seventh inning to a loud ovation.

If they trade him there, and Lakers winning Golden ball, I think he would stay

I think he could want to stay too, but he's so caught up about going to Brooklyn and that's all he wants to do. I just hope he'd want to stay if he did get traded there. I'd hate to lose Bynum for this niggy for only one season. I'd hate my life...

Would a title be worth seeing him leave after this season?

Honestly, no. Not just one.

Think about what they gave up for him. Could have Bynum and do the same thing. He's better offensively and they're both as mature as one another, just the defensive aspect of Dwight is hard to pass up. I think they can win with Andrew just as much as they can with Dwight. It's just a tough situation.

First of all how would a 3 team trade even work with them...

It's a 3 team deal because Bynum won't re-sign in Orlando.

Bynum to Cleveland for Varejao/Zeller/picks (go to ORL)

Cleveland has a lot of picks due to LBJ
