Dallas Morning News - Michael Strahan is among the skeptics regarding Amani Toomer's proclamation that Tony Romo, not Eli Manning, is the best quarterback in the NFC East.

"You've got to check [Toomer's] house for bath salts," Strahan jokingly said on ESPN Radio.

Earlier this week, Toomer took a surprising stand for Romo rather than his ex-teammate Manning by saying Romo is "statistically" the best quarterback in the division

LOL.

The only thing that separates the two of them is 2 Super Bowl rings, and Romo's never been on a team that even resembles the greatness of the 2008 and 2012 Giants Super Bowl teams. Not even close.

Tony Romo is in the hypothetical discussion.

Eli Manning wins as far as career accolades is concerned, as if I had to point that out.

Realize that Eli only has 36 more TDs while having essentially two more full years as a starter (when you combine 04 with 06 when Romo took over at the midway point). I don't care about the INT numbers because of the year disparity, but Romo only has 72 and I'm not sure he'll even approach Eli's 129 by the time he retires. His QB rating is about 15 points higher. Eli has more fourth quarter comebacks and game winning drives (with those extra two years).

While Eli is certainly better right now, this isn't as absurd of a statement as some think. We're not talking about Eli Manning versus Brad Johnson or Chad Pennington or Matt Cassell. We're talking about a comparison between two stud QBs.

Romo has never carried a team to the playoffs. He has never been clutch in the few situations that he has encountered. And by clutch, I mean playoff clutch. Not 4th quarter down by 3 with 2 minutes left.

Until he wins something substantial, he will always just be a very good regular season QB. This is the year for him, make or break imo. If he doesnt do it this year, then he never will get over that hurdle.

You're right about Romo but wrong about one thing with Eli. He has not had to carry his teams. He's had excellent defenses and decent running games (borderline great in 08) during his two Super Bowl runs. You put Romo in that same situation, you just might get the same result.

The Giants' running game was trash last year. Absolute trash. The Cowboys have consistently had great defenses during Romo's tenure (minus 2010). This is no longer a debate.

The Giants running game was trash? Right, because the Cowboys grand total of 5 rushing touchdowns is fucking stellar.

There is a debate here whether you like it or not. Eli is not leagues better than Tony Romo or anything like that. Would I take him over Tony? Yes, but it's about as close as two QBs can get.
