Eric Gordon, Suns Agree To Four-Year Contract

Eric Gordon and the Suns have agreed to a maximum four-year, $58 million offer sheet.

The Hornets are expected to match.

"I strongly feel (the Suns) are the right franchise for me," said Gordon. "Phoenix is just where my heart is.''

Don't buy that the least bit. His heart is where the money is, and he'll say whatever he has to say to get the money he wants. Basically saying, his heart will follow the money. When the Hornets match, he'll be more than happy to be a Hornet. If his heart wasn't in it, he wouldn't have been working out at the Alario Center with Monty and the other young players on the team for the past few weeks, he wouldn't have been at the rookie workouts, he wouldn't have signed off on Rivers, etc.

He has made it clear he wants to play in Phoenix so how can you say he's just saying that for the money lol sounds like a Hornets fan in denial that he's shitting on your team.

The Hornets should match anyway, and I'd just trade him at the deadline next season. Austin Rivers is not a PG, so open up the starting spot for him at SG, and get value at another position in a trade for Gordon.

Eric Gordon is protecting a contract that he has yet to (and doesn't have the ability to) sign. Right now, it's an offer. It can be rescinded at any point before he signs it. Playing the game, saying the right things...

This is actually something that crossed my mind. Word was he was unhappy in LA because Blake overshadowed him, could be the same with Davis. Obviously Phoenix has nobody that can do that since Nash is probably gone.

he had issues at indiana about his ego and it was brought up in the draft too. since his time in the nba he hasnt seemed like that kind of guy but you truly never know.

going off of what dan said though isnt a bad idea at all. match this offer and then move him for a point guard and some depth.

The Hornets will match and keep him, and he'll be happy. Like I said, the guy hasn't been working out with coaches and teammates, attending predraft workouts, and even reportedly signing off on the idea that he could play with Austin Rivers because he didn't want to be here. He's playing the game and saying the right things, because he knows the only way he'll get max money is from a offer sheet.

I mean, I won't deny the fact that the guy MAY prefer Phoenix to New Orleans. But he won't be unhappy here, he won't go off the deep in and start pouting and going through the motions or anything. How many guys in the NBA do you think are actually in their preferred destination?

Regardless of all of that, my reasoning behind trading him in the middle of next season is strictly to benefit the team. He's injury prone and plays the same position of a guy the Hornets just took at #10. Get value back for him at C/PF (Wherever the Hornets aren't going to play Davis), SF or PG.

That or go through with trying to playing a ball stopper at PG.

Hell, we're Hornets and Pistons fans. I don't think it would be a stretch that there isn't a single player on either of those rosters that would put the Hornets or Pistons #1 on their lists of preferred destinations.

Nola you are in such denial here. Gordon saying that his heart is in Phoenix is obviously not a ploy because he didn't HAVE to say anything of that sort. He clearly feels Phoenix is the best place for him to play at this point and hopes the Hornets either don't match or sign-and-trade him.
