Hawks aren't really going anywhere though. They need to rebuild.
If we didn't have so many injuries in the playoffs I could've seen us in the ECF this year. We were just unlucky this year in the health area

Money wise it's cool, makes a lot of sense going forward. Looking at our team without him in the immediate future isn't so great though. I mean SG's like JJ aren't exactly plentiful right now in the league. Even though a lot of people overlook his talent because of his contract he still is a top 3 SG in this league.

Losing him will set our team back by a lot. We just won't be the same for a while and that's not something I'm in a rush to see. I guess if we could get Marshon it'd be better but we still would be on the downward side of the East for a while, I just feel like we've been through so much with this team's core and to send away the leader for expirings won't immediately lead to improvement
i told you when he got his deal its not going to help you now or in the future. its just bad all around. you arent competing for a 'ship. this should be a no-brainer. i really think my pistons comparison was almost spot on. its going to really suck as a fan unless you guys move him and can get something else for josh before he walks for free.

Because $tunna is actually a Hawks fan, who likes all Atlanta teams....
Wait, because I have rooted for the Hawks for as long as you or anyone on this site has known me, you are calling me a bandwagon ?

And no other teams were? Boston was a better team in Atlanta and it showed in the playoffs. They fucking beat you without Rondo...

They also lost to us with Rondo....

We played with more injuries than they did, in fact over the course of the season I believe we had more injuries than majority of the NBA. If we had all our starters from Game 1 forward we would have beat the Celtics in that series.

I actually think it helped us a lot more than you know. I don't think a lot of you watch the Hawks as much as I do so ya'll don't have the same understanding for his importance to the team as I do. I mean even if we aren't "Competing for a ship" I believe we're a lot closer than most.

you dont understand. youre 4th seed at best. you can make the ecf one year and get all stoked but you arent getting any better year by year and hes getting worse and harder and harder to trade and thats going to cripple your chances at rebuilding.

i guess you should be happy with mediocrity and cap crippling contracts.

I've heard it all before man lol I've literally heard it ALL when it comes to outside opinions on the Hawks.
Cap crippling contracts? Don't you mean contract? and if the Hawks are mediocre then what does that make the pistons?

In fact if the Hawks are mediocre what does that make all of the other teams that finish below us? If being no less than 5 seed for 4 years is mediocre then I think your view on being a good team in the NBA is a bit perplexed

before you go taking shots you should know that i dont expect the pistons to do shit. and yea, finishing 5th in the east for four years is mediocre. you are NOT getting any better, and as the years go on youll get worse. sure winning and making the playoffs is good for the team and making the owner money but its not good for the players who are playing for championships that YOUR team isnt winning nor will you win.

why not deal joe for whatever you can, deal josh so you get something for him, and then build around teague and horford?

While I hate the Nets, they understood what was going on in the league.

You need a team of superstars these days to win a championship. They are going out trying to have a GForce-D12-Deron trio, because that is their only shot at winning a title.

Hawks simply don't have the talent to beating the Heat or Thunder in a 7 game series, or even Boston

I'm not taking shots. I'm just saying mediocre is not the right word to describe where this team is right now. Because you would have to put a LOT of other teams in that category as well.

I don't believe we'll be closer to winning a championship with losing JJ, and I understand that moving him will help us in the future from a money standpoint. But I'm not going to pretend like Atlanta is the only team not winning a championship any time soon. This is a 30 team league and just like we haven't won a championship in the past 5 years neither have 26 other teams.

I understand what you're saying but I also understand that we should all want to see our team put the best players on the court that we possibly can. I want to see my team do well, just because I know that losing JJ will set us back doesn't mean I think we're going to win a championship with him next year.

You didn't beat us in a 7 game series tho... You lost. And we were injured as well. We had like 3 guys go on IR so early in the season, and Bradley got hurt Late as well
When Ryan Hollins is playing in a Game 7, you know you've had many injuries

I respect ya'lls team but a healthy Al Horford would have completely changed that series. Him and Josh together give you guys more problems down-low than any other team in the East imo.

So what would a healthy Jeff Green and Ray Allen have done for Boston? You seem to make these excuses for your team but not give them to the other side. The Celtics are a better team than the Hawks, FLAT OUT.

Lol I'm sorry man I just can't agree with you on that. Ray Allen and Jeff Green (I doubt either would have even started in the series) both don't mean as much to the Celtics as Al Horford does to ATL, they wouldn't have made the same type of impact in this series.
