Toronto drafted Jonas Valanciunas with the fifth overall pick last season under the assumption that he wouldn't come to the NBA until the 12-13 season.

Chad Ford believes Valanciunas would be the second overall selection in the 2012 NBA Draft behind Anthony Davis.

According to Chad Ford, Miles Plumlee may sneak into the first round!

I've been saying that Jonas was probably the 1st or 2nd best player in the draft last year.

I love Monty.

"I haven't done anything, I got a ways to go, lord willing I get the opportunity to do it, and you know, I don't see anybody you know, "man I want to go play for Mont," knocking down the door. If they heard about my practices and how anal I am in practice they'd be like...I don't know."

Young big > young guard

All day every day.
Not when the young guard has potential to be the best PG in the NBA and the young big is an unproven string bean from Lithuania.

You've said yourself that Kyrie played better than expected.

and the guy is 240 lbs, hardly a "string bean." and how proven was Kyrie coming out?

You also overrate the shit out of Kyrie, he doesn't have the potential and won't ever be the best PG in the NBA.

kyrie does have the tools to be the best, at least top three. and 240 is a string bean for a "big man".

I don't overrate anything about him. There is no flaw in his game other than defense at the moment, but he has the athletic ability to iron that out, and he has all of that at the ripe age of 20. You're underrating him.

Me thinking a 20 year old PG who put together one of the best rookie seasons for a PG ever has potential to be the best at his position, is overrating the shit out of him. Okay.

Kyrie Irving is a rookie and he's already the 8th best PG in the league.

Well.... 9th. I forgot about Kyle Lowry.

Passing. Rebounds. Defense.

He has loads of potential. Good size (6'11, 240, 7'4 wing), good athleticism and mobility for a post player, finishes strong around the basket, has a good shot around the basket, developing a midrange game, does a excellent job at getting in position for rebounds and uses his length and strong hands to secure them, alters a lot of shots.

Only real negatives I see is that he can add some muscle (def not a string bean though), needs to add a few moves in the post, and needs to do a better job at getting post position (strength).

I'm a little uneasy about him being in Toronto, but I think he could be a stud.

Yeah but best player from the draft? No. He's a more athletic Zydrunas from everything I here.

he sounds nice but euros arent known for banging at all. and at 6'11 he needs more weight and muscle. a lot more. i still would not says he can be the first best from that draft class..

People forget how bad last years draft was. Even cheato admitted Kyrie performed better than expected. All I'm saying is at draft time last year I felt he was the best or second best, like I said obviously Kyrie exceeded expectations.

And he'll be much better than Zydrunas, that's a bad comparison, even with the "more athletic" label attached.
