Neil Olshey was noncommittal on whether the Clippers would pick up Vinny Del Negro’s option for the 2012-2013 season.

"That’s not what we’re here to talk about," Olshey said. "Coaching contacts, GM contracts, trainers' contracts, that’s not today.

"I think we deserve the same courtesy everybody else gets. ... [Atlanta Hawks Coach] Larry Drewgot his option picked up a few days [after their season ended]. … I think Vinny did a great job, and that’s as far as I’m going to go today.”

Del Negro owns a 72-76 over his two seasons in Los Angeles.

Vinny Del Negro will return as head coach of the Clippers for the 12-13 season.

The Clippers held an option on Del Negro's contract.

Del Negro guided the Clippers to the second round of the playoffs, but had been subject of rumors of his impending dismissal throughout the season.

Del Negro is still in Los Angeles because Sterling didn't want to pay a high profile coach, this is obvious. I'm sure Olshey lobbied to keep him but ultimately it probably wasn't his decision to make anyway.

The Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement in principle with Vice President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey.

Olshey had been operating under a month-to-month agreement.

The 2011-12 campaign marked Olshey's second season as the Clippers' Vice President of Basketball Operations and his ninth overall season with the organization. Olshey began his career as Director of Player Development prior to the start of the 2003-04 season and served as an assistant coach during the 2004-05 campaign before holding the title of Director of Player Personnel from 2005-08.
