Reports are he shot himself in the chest so they could do research on his brain.

One of Junior Seau’s last acts before shooting himself in the chest on Wednesday was to tell his children that he loved them.

His ex-wife, Gina Seau, told U-T San Diego that on Tuesday he texted her and each of their three children separate messages: “I love you.”
Very sad, I feel horrible for his kids. I couldn't imagine doing that to my children.

it's sad to think that he left his children behind without a father, but I'm sure he was a good man, and if it was depression that played a big role in his suicide, then the pain must have been unbearable

This is really sad and all, but this happens to a lot of people everyday and no one makes a big deal about it because they aren't famous.

No shit.

The more people who know of the person who died, the more people that are effected by it. The more people effected by it, the more it gets talked about.

People who cry about this shit every time it happens are ridiculous.

I didn't call suicide this shit, I called the people who bring up that normal people die/commit suicide all the time and no one cares every time that someone famous dies this shit.

Your wording made me think other, now that you say it like that it makes sense. I agree, though suicide is getting bigger and bigger in media famous person or not.

I also think that the story of Seau is so big is purely because of his concussions.

Sure, it's affecting his teammates, coaches, etc, but fans who only watched him on TV? How does it really affect them? Like you said, people know of him. They don't actually know him. And I've read a lot of stuff about him implying he wasn't a good guy to begin with. Like I said, it is sad, but I'm not going to make a big deal about it.

To some he was a childhood hero. People grew up watching him and take it to the heart.

The fans in San Diego who watched and looked up to Junior Seau for 10+ years aren't going to be affected when he dies? Especially in such an odd and fucked up way?

Fans tend to develop personal bonds with players who played on their favorite team for long periods of time. I'm the same way with Derek Jeter. I've never met him but I feel like I know him personally, I'm sure fans in San Diego are the same way.
