Gregg Popovich has been named the 2011-12 NBA Coach of the Year.

Popovich was also Coach of the Year in 2003.

San Antonio had a 50-16 record this season and were tied with the Bulls for the best record in the NBA.

I would have given it to Thibs but I don't have a problem with Pop winning.

It's shocking this is only his 2nd COY honor.

Winning a bunch of games with a prime David Robinson and then a prime Tim Duncan isn't exactly the hardest thing to do in the NBA. While he has been a great coach and is one of the best ever, the Spurs win more games with David Robinson/Tim Duncan and no Pop than they do the other way around.

Going to the right person. I didn't think the Spurs would do this well, let alone top seed in the West. Congrats Pop.
