Amar'e Stoudemire is out indefinitely with a bulging disc.

Stoudemire had an MRI on Monday and is flying to Miami for a second opinion.

The Knicks don't believe Stoudemire will need surgery, but Mike Woodson said he believes he is young enough to come back from it if it is the ultimate prognosis.

Gotta feel bad for Amar'e. At least it isn't his knees.

Why would melo be happy? he's been getting his shots and hasn't been hitting them. He's been missing layups he should make 99% of the time. It's not like Amare's been getting in his way - Melo is just having a really bad stretch of games, not to mention he looks out of shape and gassed all the time.

With Amare out now it wouldn't surprise me if Melo finished much stronger. But hey it's just a hunch really lol

"The Knicks announced Wednesday Amar'e Stoudemire will return in 2-4 weeks from the bulging disk in his back as they hope an epidural steroid injection will get him ready for the first round of the playoffs in one month.

There will be no knife but a very painful needle as the club hopes the injection will do the trick. Steroid injections are legal as long as they are inflammatory steroids and not anabolic, according to sources.

It appeared an optimistic timetable that Stoudemire will be fully sound by the time the playoffs roll around. It is a possibility he will need surgery in the offseason to avoid this from becoming a continuing problem, according to sources."

Hopefully we will go into the playoffs with a healthy roster this time.

My fantasy team is falling apart, not that Amare was really helping me that much when he was healthy.

Now that he's probably done for the rest of the season, he's gotta be the biggest bust this season.

UPDATE:

"Amar'e Stoudemire shot free throws before Tuesday night's game but still is weeks away from playing. The timetable for Stoudemire is not 2-4 weeks from the time he suffered the back injury, which was March 24. The Knicks said Tuesday night it's 2-4 weeks from the time Stoudemire had the epidural shot to alleviate the pressure from the bulging disc in his back. That was last Thursday. So the earliest Stoudemire could return is April 13 against Washington, which doesn't seem likely at this point. "It's still day-to-day," interim coach Mike Woodson said. "You're talking 2-4 weeks maybe, if that. I keep saying day-to-day in hopes that he might come back. After taking the shot, they're still"

"Lookin' good.

Coach Mike Woodson paid Amar'e Stoudemire a compliment yesterday, saying Stoudemire was "looking good'' after he ran, jumped and dunked during drills at yesterday's morning shootaround before the Knicks' 98-86 loss to the Bulls at United Center.

The power forward, sidelined with a bulging disk in his back, appears to be inching closer to a return but will not play tonight in Milwaukee — which is two weeks after the Knicks gave him a 2-to-4 week timetable following an epidural steroid injection.

Returning for Sunday's home matinee against the Heat has not been ruled out, but the situation remains murky because Stoudemire has taken a vow of silence and not spoken about the injury since suffering it 2 1/2 weeks ago."
