With Peyton heading to Denver, Broncos may sign Jeff Saturday

Peyton Manning has spent almost his entire NFL career putting his hands under Jeff Saturday’s backside, and he may continue to do that in Denver.

Shortly after the news broke that Manning has informed the Broncos he wants to sign with them, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Manning and John Elway have already talked about the Broncos signing Saturday, a free agent center who has been with the Colts since 1999.

Saturday had drawn interest from the Titans (who also hoped he could help lure Manning), and the Packers. But the Broncos will instantly become the favorites to acquire Saturday’s services now that Manning is in the fold.

For Elway, the Broncos’ front office boss, there’s always been an offseason Plan A and an offseason Plan B. Plan A included not only signing Manning but also making other moves to put the right talent around Manning. Plan A includes trading Tim Tebow, which the Broncos will now try to do, and it also includes signing Saturday.

If Saturday does sign with the Broncos, Manning will have his longtime security blanked with him in Denver. Signing Saturday is a move that makes too much sense not to happen.

Power, really. Gets to run the offense how he wants it. Although I'm sure Money was important as well.

Wow the 49ers might be out of a QB entirely. I think this is a good situation for Peyton where he can manage his own offense the way he wants. His chances of making the playoffs year in and year out are very good in the AFC West. This is good for Tebow because he can learn from Peyton and become a better QB.

1) I am not sure how much money really plays into it since I believe that the three teams (Denver, San Francisco, and Tennessee) could all pay a lot of money around the rumored $20 million. However, I think the Broncos had additional money to sign other former Colts.

2) I don't think it will take very long for Alex Smith to resign with the Niners. He can either resign with a team that was very close to making the Super Bowl and has improved offensive weapons with Moss and Manningham or go to the Dolphins. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but the choice seems obvious to me.

3) The rumor seems to be that if Manning went to Denver that the team would then look to trade Tebow to get something in return. Perhaps you look for the Dolphins to make a move for Tebow just purely to sell tickets and generate money.

I thought that the Niners was the best place to sign talent wise to give him the best chance of winning another Super Bowl. It will be interesting to hear the reasons why he chose Denver over the other two.

Well, if Tebow took the team to the playoffs, I'm sure Peyton could take them a bit further.
I still would have picked the Niners though.

Did Denver really offer him 61M guaranteed over two years? I'm on my phone so I can't really browse around too much but that is what I heard.

Whenever I find myself in a tough spot or not sure how to move forward, I always think... WWTD: What Would Tebow Do?

I should note it is difficult to type this while Tebowing it at the same time...

Hopefully no one will want Tebow so we can't trade him. That way when Peyton takes that inevitable, career finalizing hit this season, we'll still have the man himself Timmy Tebow playing QB

A bit off topic, with Peyton coming to Denver there is no question he is the starter but if they trade Tebow and with Brady Quinn already leaving town who would be the backup QB in such a situation?
