Josh Smith has told the Hawks he wants to be traded ahead of the March 15 deadline, sources tell the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Smith has previously complained about getting singled out for criticism by the coaches and media. Now he reportedly "believes he needs a fresh start with a franchise where he can better reach his potential on and off the court." Smith is also upset that the Hawks didn't do enough to promote him for the All-Star team and wants to play for a team more committed to winning for a championship. The Hawks will never be able to get equal value for Smith, who is 26 and under contract through the 2012-13 season. It's hard to see a deal getting done here. Mar 8 - 3:00 PM
