According to Chris Manning, a very popular sports editor and social media coordinator for 2K Sports, Lamar Odom’s contract might be bought out, and Odom might call it a career.

Lamar Odom has had a lot on his plate lately. While attending his cousins funeral in New York last July, Odom was a passenger in a car crash that led to the death of a pedestrian. Adding to the list of Odom’s reasons to mourn, the Lakers traded Lamar to Dallas, where he’s been having a very disappointing season.

Odom has been averaging a career low 8 points, 2 assists, 5 rebounds, and 35% shooting from the field in 21 minutes per game for the defending champions.

He can play still... you can tell he's still heartbroken about being traded and doesn't like being in Dallas.

Man the fuck up.

This tells everyone why he fits with the Kardashians so well.

If he retires, I will bet some good money he would be back in a year or two.

a lot on his plate man
death follows him. i feel bad for him

his mom died when he was 12, his grandma who raised him like a mom died 9 years ago. his baby boy died a few years back. he cousin died this summer like the article said, and he was in a car that killed a pedestrian

he's having a bad year. he wasnt ready to be traded, and it's too bad. i bet he wishes he kept his mouth shut like pau.

now he left the team last week to be with his dad in LA who is really sick right now. I feel for LO. he's a great dude. he's really hurting right now. his head must be a mess

He apparently wants to go the Nets or the Celtics if he is bought out.

What a pussy.

If I was Dallas I'd tell him to go sit his ass at home and don't come back.

Buying him out seems smarter
Depends what the buyout is for.

DALLAS – The only thing completely clear in the mysterious Lamar Odom saga is that Mark Cuban won’t even consider a midseason buyout.

Why not?

“We want him to contribute,” Cuban said. “We want him to help. What’s the point? That doesn’t do us any good if he’s gone. It doesn’t buy us anything if we buy him out.”
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban doesn't plan on offering Lamar Odom a buyout or on waiving the team's No. 1 off-season acquisition.

"We're not going to buy out anybody," Cuban said. "There's no reason to and we're not going to do it."

Odom is in Los Angeles because his father is ill. But TMZ reported that his father, Joe Odom, is not gravely ill and was simply suffering from a stomach virus earlier last week when Lamar Odom left the Mavs to be by his side.

Interviewed on the streets of Los Angeles on Friday, Joe Odom said: "[Wednesday] night [Lamar] stayed with me all night... just kickin' it and whatnot. But everything is good now. I feel a lot better."
Not to mention the Mavs would be losing a first round pick for virtually nothing if they bought him out.

I didn't really mind Lamar, but he's being ridiculous. Sure he didn't want to be traded, but last I knew this is a business and trades happen. Don't like Dallas, oh well. Just deal with it.

If he does "retire" I agree he'll be back very shortly.

Cant be more than the amount they'd pay him for "sitting at home"

He would still get paid, lol
Well I mean, the Hornets sat Marcus Banks at home all last year (he never even set foot in the locker room) and didn't buy him out. I'm just saying, I don't have the first clue how the buyout thing works, but I doubt it's that simple. If it was, Cuban wouldn't be refusing to buy him out, and the Hornets would have bought out Banks last year, Jimmy Jackson years ago, etc. But like I said, I don't know how the buyout option works so don't take anything I say seriously lol

Also, lets say Odom's buyout is 2M. He may be onboard now, but when losing 6M becomes a reality (in one year obviously) his opinion or "wants" could change pretty fast.

The Dallas Mavericks hope to have Lamar Odom back in uniform in a matter of days, but it might not immediately be a Mavs uniform, sources said.

Odom is likely to play at least one game with the Mavericks' D-League affiliate in nearby Frisco to, as one source said, "get his legs back under him." The Texas Legends play the Austin Toros at home Saturday night, however the team said that Odom wouldn't be practicing with them on Friday.
I might have to watch Khloe and Lamar. I bet he comes home crying.

I cant believe how quickly Lamar has fallen off. The Lakers definitely did the best thing for their team by trading him. Lamar has had a tough life, but I think basketball is the best medicine for him right now to move past it.

God, honestly I hope he does retire so at least no one else has the privilege of having an effective Lamar Odom.

Or a return to the Lakers <3

I don't understand why they are sending him to the d-league to "get his legs back under him." He can't do that in a real game? lol
