Jeremy Lin is more marketable than Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, according to a recent Nielsen poll.

Nielsen's N-Score measures name and image awareness, appeal and personality attributes such as sincerity, approachability, experience and influence. Lin topped the survey with an N-Score of 102. Bryant scored a 90 while James gets 84.

About 19% of the U.S. population has heard of Lin, say Nielsen, and of those 30% say they like him.

Obviously he's more marketable, he appeals to the Asian market.

Not surprised by that. For the reason Bleacher said, and that it's a nice "underdog" story.

I know it's not the same thing, but if he was the first black, white, latino, german, french etc player in the league, it widens the market in those areas. Which in turn can make them more marketable.

Only 30% like Lin?

Lot of hate.

I don't get how those numbers make him more marketable than Kobe and LeBron.

Is that saying 70% don't like Lin?

Out of the 19% that know of Lin, only 30% like him - that's what I got out of it.

Basing it on the USA Population of 310m:
  • 58.9m have heard of Lin
  • 17.67m like Lin
  • 41.23m don't Like Lin

Obviously these Nielsen ratings are only a forecast.
