TWolves still pursuing Pau Gasol trade

In other news involving NBA big men, a source said Wednesday that Minnesota continues to pursue a possible trade for Lakers forward Pau Gasol, dangling rookie Derrick Williams, who is from the Los Angeles area, and draft choices. The only players considered untouchable by the Timberwolves, who are seeking to add a veteran by the trade deadline, are Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio. The Timberwolves believe it could be enticing for Gasol to play on the same team as fellow Spaniard Rubio.

I can't see the Lakers making that move. Sure, they need to get younger because their window is closing a little more every second as we speak, but at the same time they are still pushing for another title.

Imagine how unhappy Kobe would be with this deal.

hell, the lakers went to 3 finals with him at Center exclusively 1 year, and the other 2 years he played a ton of center with bynum gimpy

Pau at Center and Love at PF is a great fit

this would be part of a 3 way with the lakers getting dwight or deron though. im down on pau(even though he's having a nice season), but i cant do this

ridnour and dwill for pau? fuck that, its horrible. dwill is too slow for the three and jot strong enough for the four. he could he a career 6th man because of that.

and no center truly bangs him and would give him problems. He had a great 2009 Finals. I remember everyone saying he should have gotten MVP over Kobe. that was vs Dwight because Bynum hardly played

his game is better suited for C. He's great down low, great passer, underrated shot blocker and he's still grabbing 10 boards a game. Pairing him with outside shooting Love is so much better than Bynum because Bynum limits Pau's low post touches

Bynum has missed a ton of games since Pau came to LA. Pau has played a lot of center because of that, and he's been great

Kobe would be pissed, and it would be stupid to start rebuilding at this time in Kobe's career.

Derrick Williams would be part of a 3way trade IMO and the only way the lakers keep him is if they are getting Dwight or Deron back in return to make up for Pau being gone

Because he's a much better matchup against 4's defensively.

You may not want to believe it, but Pau lacks the strength to go up against C's and gets bullied on the blocks by guys who can outmuscle him.

He struggles matching up with 5's, but his length and mobility is a plus against 4's. He's a finesse player.

The numbers prove this. This season per 48, Pau allows his opponent to grab 11.7 rebounds when playing PF, when he's playing C his opponent grabs 15.6 rebounds. PF's average 0.6 blocks per 48 against Gasol, but C's average 2.3 blocks per 48. He also averages more fouls at C than PF, which shows that his true position is at PF.

Last season per 48, Gasol allowed his opponent to grab 11.3 rebounds when playing PF, but 13.6 when playing C. PF's averaged .7 blocks, C's averaged 1.9. He averaged more fouls at C than PF.

sure, i would rather see Pau go up against Blatche instead of McGee, or Ibaka instead of Perk, or Scola instead of Dalembert, etc, but he can do it

I was about to say "oh I thought you were saying he is more of a C than PF," then I got to the bolded part. He can play center, but he plays like a PF, not a C.

I'm not worried about right now. I was talking that in the future, he'll be a very solid player.
