NFL.com - The sudden rise of Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin has drawn inevitable comparisons to Tim Tebow.

Over the past week, Lin has led the Knicks to five straight heart-pounding victories, a streak highlighted Friday night by a 38-point outburst in New York's 92-85 win over Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.

"I've drawn a lot of inspiration," Lin, a devout Christian, told San Francisco's KGMZ-FM this week. "Just because (Tebow's) a polarizing figure and the things he says in interviews and his approach to the game is just unbelievable and I respect him so much and I actually want to be able to do some of the things he does in terms of the amount of charity work and nonprofit work and the way he impacts people off the field. That is what is most inspiring to me about him.

"... I can't sit here and say I knew this would happen. It's something that I've been working towards. To have this happen so fast has been miraculous. I'm just so thankful to God and my teammates and the organization for giving me these opportunities. It's been an unbelievable week."

IMO other than the fact they were unlikely successes, Tebow and Lin aren't that comparable. Tebow was winning with bad to decent stats, Lin's winning with great stats.

apart from the fact that they're both wwjd to the max, there's nothing comparable. tebow has had the microscope on him since 2006, lin looks like that asian guy from your calculus class.

The Knicks have won a season-best five games in a row, and the basketball team’s new point guard Jeremy Lin is a surprise hit of the NBA season. And MSG’s hockey team, the Rangers, has won three games in a row and leads the Eastern Conference. Shares of Madison Square Garden Co. picked up $1.09, or 3.5 percent, to $32.24 Monday afternoon. The shares are up about 6 percent since Feb. 3, the day before Lin first saw significant playing time. Shares peaked at $33.18 on Monday, their highest point since MSG’s stock began trading in January 2010.

The fervor for Lin may help MSG in its dispute with Time Warner Cable Inc., too. Knicks games on the MSG network are not being broadcast on Time Warner Cable because of a dispute between the cable company and MSG, but Time Warner may come back to the bargaining table so it can capitalize on the teams’ success and Lin’s popularity. The dispute affects more than 2 million Time Warner subscribers.

jermey lin won NBAPOTW and he has the hottest jersey on nba.com, he also had around 30k followers on twitter two weeks ago and now had over 215k. hes making less than 5% of what melo makes(lin is making $762k).


funny thing is, i really believe this dude could be a 13/8 type player for his career, or even better. he has all the "true" point guard skills, he can shoot, and he can drive the lane. i really hope this kid does great.


with that said, i still dont like this knicks team a whole lot.
