I don't think you can blame the loss on Welker, but you can blame him for dropping that pass. It wasn't the greatest throw but I do think it still should have been caught. That one drop alone isn't the reason they lost the game though.

Well if he catches that ball the game is probably over, so you can blame him.

There's no guarantee they would have scored a TD regardless if he caught that ball or not. There's a lot of things you can put the blame on aside from Welker. The Giants fumbled what? 3 different times and not ONE was recovered by the Patriots. He deserves some of the blame, but not all of it.

It wasn't about TDs at that point. He makes the catch, they start burning clock. They either score a TD or give the Giants the ball back with not a lot of time left. That's why it was a big deal.

I agree with you though, he's not the only reason they lost.

Well he's obviously not the only reason they lost, but that play was a major part of it.

It wasn't referring to the loss, just the play in general. That play they can both be blamed, but I think thats a difficult catch to make. Spinning around, falling backwards, trying to make the catch. Not easy at all. People are acting like he pulled a buckner, but the ball wasn't right to his chest.

I'm not saying that the drop didn't have a big impact on the game, but you just can't put all the blame on Welker. They would have been able to burn off some more time, but the Giants still had a timeout and the two minute warning, if I recall correctly. Of course the game could have been a little different under that circumstance had he caught the ball, but I can find about 5-10 different things in that game had the Patriots done better, they probably would have never been in that position to begin with where that Welker drop wouldn't have been as big. It was a team loss, not a Welker loss.

She was being heckled and reacted with what came naturally... She wasn't giving a fucking interview, it was someone with a fucking camera phone.

Exactly why I'm so annoyed with this "story"

Alas, I expect nothing less from the Boston and New York media

She's so right. The drops were incredible. The passes can't always be perfect, and if the hits your hands it should be caught. If Welker catches that catch (which every NFL WR SHOULD make), they win IMO.

yea I don't like it either.

I'm more interested in talking about who's to blame but the media keeps overblowing this thing. People say things like this, regardless of what your job is or how popular you are.

Lol at the people that are seriously all over Welker. The only reason why it's so shocking in that case, is everyone is used to Wes hauling almost everything in. It's not easy when you have to readjust like he did and make that kind of catch. The throw was less than spectacular.

The throw wasn't great, but I've seen high school kids make that catch.

Few kids on my team, both under 5'10 make catches like those regularly.

they make that catch regularly... he dropped it once. you guys make it sound like he dropped that pass 4634626 times, it's just that he dropped it on the biggest stage. i'm sure the kids on your team have dropped it as well, however nobody cares because they didn't drop it in the super bowl. if welker dropped that pass in a regular season game it wouldn't matter, he just dropped it at the worst time possible and he's fucked for that. the throw was still terrible.

Making a throw is a hell of a lot harder to make a catch. The throw hit him in the hands. You touch it you catch it, especially if it hits both your hands.

The pass wasn't that bad. I'm assuming Brady saw the DB that was to the right of Welker, and compensated for that by throwing to the other shoulder of Welker.

Or he just didn't throw it where he wanted it.
