The N.F.L. will play more Thursday night games next season, with every team playing at least one Thursday game following a Sunday game and each team having at least one prime-time game, either on Thursday, Sunday or Monday.

That will give the league a total of 17 Thursday games, including the season opener and three games on Thanksgiving. Thursday night games will be played every week between Weeks 2 and 15. The NFL Network, which had been airing eight games, will expand its offering to 13 Thursday games, likely an attempt by the league to increase the value of the network as it continues to try to negotiate deals with Time Warner Cable and Cablevision to carry the network.

Coaches and players are likely to have mixed emotions about the schedule switch. Playing Thursday after a Sunday gives coaches less time to prepare and players less time to heal, but players often say they appreciate what feels like an extra bye week when they are off on the Sunday after a Thursday game.

“Adding these games to the NFL Network schedule will give more players, teams, and cities the prime-time stage,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said at his annual state of the league news conference Friday. “Our fans can now get an early start on the N.F.L. weekend in the season’s first 15 weeks.”

Every team? Well, that's cool. Expecting the Bengals to get a few of them this year, bet one will be against the Raiders with Carson Palmer returning to Paul Brown Stadium, they'd love that..

I meant they'd go crazy with the story lines going into the game, especially when Carson said he will never step foot again in Paul Brown Stadium... lol (That game will be at Paul Brown Stadium).

I'm pretty certain that will be a prime time game, I'll bet on it. As far as what TTN said, I was a big fan of his, just feel betrayed. I don't like quitters, I do have a problem with that. I understand why he was frustrated and all that but still don't accept it. I've moved on though, hoping Dalton works out. Maybe it happened for a reason and will end up working out for the best.. I guarantee it will be a prime time game though.

Oh lol.. I like it honestly, I'm tired of seeing the same teams play over and over throughout the year. Unfortunately not everyone gets the NFL Network.
I probably would be ok with it, but after the MNF schedule from this season? That schedule was horrendous and incredibly boring.

There's no reason to give every team a primetime game. The TNF schedule for example, is already pretty bad, how do you improve on it? Give even more teams that don't deserve to play in primetime those slots.

I like that. Give every team's fanbase a chance to see their team nationally -- but some of the teams that haven't been as successful in recent years should be earlier in the schedule.

Like Nola said, the MNF schedule this season was atrocious -- however, if they schedule it properly, they can get every team a primetime game and still have more intriguing matchups later in the season.

But it's tough for these guys to handle it because it's out of their hands. You schedule Colts games for Primtime and then Peyton misses the season and every Colts game is boring as hell to watch.

Well, the scheduling of the games is pretty bad.. What I don't understand is why they put top teams against lower teams.. If they want good games, they need to balance out the schedule with teams that are pretty equal to each other to get some competitive games.. They just always put a high market team against a low market team, generally. Not always. I don't care who is playing, as long as it's a good game, I will watch it.. I know the higher market teams bring a lot of fans, but good games would draw some attention as well.. I know it's hard, you can think you have a good game set up and it turns out the opposite or something happens, but they could do better.
