A source says Jason Thompson, who is eligible for a contract extension, will not be offered one by the Kings.

Thompson is no longer starting for Sacramento.

I've always thought he was a good player, I'd offer him an extension. Though they've kind of got themselves in a mess with versatile big men.

Cousins
Hayes
Thompson
Hickson
Whiteside

If by versatile you mean largely useless players who won't ever be significant pieces to any team who wants any chance of ever winning, then yeah I agree. Cousins may be exempt from that.

Cousins does not belong in that group.

I liked Thompson. Dude seemed to have fallen off though. No surprise here really.

You can basically cross Whitesides off that list.

But I don't know why they won't extend him, he's a decent player. Not as consistent as they would like, but no one on their team is.

They created this logjam at the 4 and 5 for no reason basically.

You say logjam, but they really only have 4 guys....and 1 of them is injured.

There was no reason to sign Hayes AND trade for Hickson this offseason when you already have Cousins and Thompson plus Whiteside (still a question mark).

My main problem with that group though is, you can basically say they are all PF's and C's, they don't have a true position.

Which isn't always a problem, but I feel for that group it is. The only true C they had was Dalembert, and he left town.

Basically, is Cousins a PF or C? Hickson a PF or C? Thompson a PF or C? Hayes? I bet your going to get a ton of differing opinions. They have a logjam but aside from Cousins who has his own issues none of those guys really stand out.

The fact that they really don't have a true PG only makes that problem worse too. That team is just a bunch of mixed parts and not a real "team."

Yeah, thats the problem who plays what position they all are like blends of positions.

I'd say Cousins and Hayes at C

Hickson and Thompson at 4.

But with them saying Thompson will leave, I hope that means they will get a true(er) PF (probably through the draft)

He's about their only post presence that consistently plays hard. Of course Sacramento will let him go. Can't at least try to be competent post Adelman. Wow.

And here I thought signing Chuck Hayes was a sign that they'd become more cohesive with his presence. Maybe they'll play better when he comes back from injury.
