Well with power hitting Prince Fielder still out on the open market I figured to start up a thread to discuss anything about him.

It's surprising, at least to me, that he's yet to be signed by a team. But this is in large part due to the huge contract he is seeking.

It would be deadly to see him in a Yankees uniform, but with Teixeira locked up at 1st and Montero looking to fill up the DH spot there's not really much of a need for him at the price he's looking.

Where do you guys think he will end up?

Screw Montero, he will never be as good as Prince. But at the same time, the Yankees have a lot of money tied up to old players like Jeter, Rivera, and A-rod.

He has the potential to be better than Prince...

With the bat, he's an Albert Pujols/Miguel Cabrera type. Lot of power, high average, high OBP.

I don't think he'll ever be as good as Miggy or Pujols but the potential is there and he's 6 years younger than Prince and will be a lot cheaper for the foreseeable future.

Remember when people were seriously debating who would get a bigger contract? Fielder or Pujols?

Unbelievable that he hasn't been signed.

Fielder will get 8yrs/220M from the Nationals.

And then they will trade Michael Morse to the Rays.

I don't know if he'll get that many years. The longer this takes the more leverage a team like the Nationals has to getting a deal that favors them.

Still wouldn't count out Baltimore to make a play for him

Wish he wasn't seeking for so many years. I think that's why a lot of teams are holding off.

Yea, and it sounds like the Mariners rumors were just a bunch of BS.

Its pretty much between Nationals and Orioles but there doesn't appear to be any urgency from either team to get a deal done.

Pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that you guys maxed out your budget for this off-season.

I still have no idea why Fielder goes. There is no perfect fit for him. I still think that Texas swoops in and steals him out from under everybody, but that becomes a bit harder now because of the Darvish thing. I think if they can't come to terms with Darvish they end up signing Prince but they would be such a good team if they added both guys.

i know, that's what i've assumed too

but i thought they were done with pitching after capuano and harang, but just today our GM said they were talking to Kuroda recently

shocking. why would you talk to kuroda if you're done spending and have a full 5 man roto with a few prospects who can fill in if anything happens?

bids for the team are due next week too. Boras might be waiting for a new owner to give the ok to go get him

super unlikely, but there is still a possibility

Maybe... like a 1% chance.

But after handing Matt Kemp 8yrs/160M and the ownership/money issues that the LAD are having, I seriously doubt it.

I can not believe Prince Fielder is going to go to a team like the Orioles or the Nationals. Good luck....

I'd go to the Nats if I were him.

They're on the way up as a team.

Imagine a core of

Prince
Bryce
Zimmerman

And then

Strasburg
Zimmerman
Gio Gonzalez

in the rotation and Clippard as the closer.

Pretty good future, imo.

its not like Strasburg is always having sore this, pulled that, strained this, sprained that -- he had 1 major arm injury and has been fine since.

You got young kids like Bryce Harper coming up soon, Morse just had a great season, they've got youth at Catcher -- it's definitely a good place to go. He just has to lower his demands and he'll end up there.
