Giants’ Victor Cruz: We’re going to throw the ball at Darrelle Revis

Giants receiver Victor Cruz thinks he’s going to have a good time visiting Revis Island on Saturday.

Cruz said today that when the Giants play the Jets, he expects to get plenty of balls thrown his way, even if Darrelle Revis is covering him.

“Teams aren’t really scared [of Revis] anymore,” Cruz said, via the New York Daily News. “He’s got to earn his money this year. Teams aren’t really backing down. I feel like we’re going to do the same thing. We’re going to go out. Until he physically stops us we’re going to throw the ball on him.”

Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks was asked if Revis is the best cornerback in the NFL, and he paused before answering, “He’s decent.” Nicks apparently changed his mind later and called Revis “great,” but even then he said he thought his own matchup with Revis would be “even.”

So the Giants won’t hesitate to have Eli Manning air it out and throw it to whatever receiver Revis is covering. We’ll see Saturday if that’s a decision that comes back to haunt them.

Revis, Cromartie fire back at Giants wideouts

When it comes to the rivalry between the Giants and the Jets, the war of words won’t end before their game on Saturday. Or during.

Or after.

On Thursday, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis responded to a flurry of insults from Giants receivers Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, and Mario Manningham. Revis, along with cornerback Antonio Cromartie, had some impressive remarks, as chronicled by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

As to the notion that the Giants receivers aren’t “scared” of Revis, the All-Pro was pragmatic. And literal. “I’m not a monster,” Revis said. “So why would anyone be scared?”

That’s humorous. Which is the same general reaction Revis had to the comments. “These guys can say whatever they want,” Revis said. “You just laugh at it. . . . We’ll see.”

Said Cromartie regarding Nicks and Cruz: “You got guys that are not even Pro Bowl material. . . . Who really cares what they have to say?“

Cromartie had a particularly harsh combo-diss at Manningham and Cruz. Said Cromartie of Manningham, “He let a guy named Victor Cruz come in and take his job.”

It adds even more flavor to a stew that has been spiked with a tablespoon of every spice on the rack. And there likely will be even more stuff thrown into the cauldron before Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET.

We'll see who comes out on top laughing. As for the Pro Bowl thing, Im pretty sure Cruz or Nicks will make it this year. Both teams talking a lot of shit, they just need to play the game and they better back up their words or else they are going to get blasted by the media come Sunday...

lol Cromartie...

But really, neither teams are having years where they should be saying a thing. They should be more worried about actually winning football games.

Had to lmfao at the Cro comment about Manningham and Cruz, that was funny as hell

Don't think it's right that he brought in Manningham to it since he had nothing to do with any of this

But Victor Cruz becomes the second dude to talk shit about Revis knowing that he won't even have to worry about facing him. Jason Hill and him

Revis is gonna be locking Nicks down and hopefully Cro has a nice game and stops Cruz, sometimes Cro looks like an amazing corner and other times he's just awful

Cruz is the most overrated WR in this league, by miles. He gets very lucky, very often, usually due to the defenders slipping, or not reading their zones, or doing something else stupid

Notice how almost all of these big plays from Cruz are either extreme luck, or the defense playing terribly? (there are some exceptions but not many)

He is an above average WR who should not make the Pro Bowl, but will because he got lucky with his stats

I don't know if you can consider it luck if it has happened so many times.

It could be luck, or it could be a great combination of balance, concentration and open field moves.

Im not trolling. I love Hakeem Nicks, think he's a great WR (although Giants fans give him a little too much credit).

Cruz is mad overrated, and I know many Giants fans who agree with that

I wouldn't say he's anywhere near one of the best but he's still a very good receiver.

This is Victor Cruz's first full year so I would say he has been very good.

a lot of times Cruz's route takes him right in between zones, or he benefits from miscommunication on D.

It also help when teams double on Hakeem Nicks, and leave him one on one. He makes a lot of big catches, but I don't recall (and havent seen every game so I may be wrong about this) ever seeing Cruz make a catch where he had to make a well-timed jump to beat his defender. A lot of times he makes a catch and is open. Maybe it's a breakdown in the D, or he makes great open-field moves. Idk because NFL cameras suck and only show me the LoS.
