MLBTR To Start NBA Rumors Site

I'm making my first foray into another sport, as we're launching a new NBA rumors website early in 2012, in the mold of MLBTR. Luke Adams will be the site's full-time writer and editor, and we're looking to build a team of part-time contributors who will be paid hourly.

Wasn't really sure where to put this but this will be pretty cool. There's no real site like MLBTR for the NBA that is updated as quickly with a ton of information from the various writers out there.

If anybody out there that's in college and has a writing background that would be interested in writing for them, they're looking for this...

The criteria:

• Knowledge of all 30 NBA teams, no discernible bias. Knowledge of transaction-related concepts.
• Writing experience is necessary and online writing experience is preferred.
• Attention to detail - absolutely no spelling errors, especially for player and journalist names. Ability to follow the site's style and tone.
• Ability to analyze articles and craft intelligent, well-written posts summing up the news in a few paragraphs. We need the best of both worlds: quick writing with thoughtful analysis. You must be able to add value to breaking news with your own insight, numbers, or links to other relevant articles.
• Ability to use an RSS feed reader such as Google Reader. Ability to use Twitter. Both of these are crucial.
• Strong evening availability - typically 5-11pm central time shifts. Writers covering Monday through Friday evenings will change week to week, but we'd also like people to regularly take specific weekend daytime shifts.
• At least some college education is required.
• If you're interested, email [email protected] and take a couple paragraphs to explain how you qualify and stand out. Many will likely apply, so unfortunately we cannot respond to most applications.

i original plan for schooling was journalism lol. either way i got declined student aid anyways but this woulda been cool. cant wait for the site to get up.

They don't make shit up, just because a lot of things that they say don't come to fruition doesn't mean that discussions weren't going on between teams. Things change very quickly and 10x more deals fall apart than actually get done.

and deals actually dont get approved by the league more than people think. the cp3 mess looked bad but it happens all the time.

its what i wanted to do for a while now but with me actually working construction it seemed smart to just get into the business side of that cause itd be easier and less schooling. id still love a chance at sports journalism, and should still really look into it.

There's no factual evidence about a lot of things, but to act like these guys don't actually know people inside is retarded.

Do you think they're just making shit up when they actually break deals that really happen long before they're publicly announced?

Things about a deal change within the blink of an eye. One second teams could have a deal and be working out some kinks and then a second later there's a change of heart or things just don't workout and the deal is off.

Doesn't mean the discussions never happened.

yea i read that something like 85% of deals proposed get declined by the league. number seems high but again it could just mean that the deals didnt get out to the public.

I never said they have no inside info.

Are you guys seriously saying that all these rumors we see are actually being discussed even though GMs and owners and players come out and say the exact opposite?????????

yea i believe the rumors more than what the owners/gms/players say. they dont want shit leaking so they wont admit to it until its just about a final deal.
