I wish people would stop saying "hornets" and start saying "NBA" or "Stern."

This isn't the Hornets anymore, Dell has no power. This is all the NBA.

Exactly. Horners made an agreement and sent it to League for the approval. It's the league that wants more.

Honestly, I'm surprised Demps hasn't stepped down. They gave him the position to make these calls, and the league overrules him constantly. He has 0 power right now. Total joke.

There are some NOLA media outlets saying that Demps isn't even the one discussing the deal anymore. It's strictly the league running the show now. I can't help but think highly of Demps to put up with this kind of shit, I would have stepped down by now.

Oh and the latest:

Looks like league is saying it won't let CP dictate that NO trade him where he wants to go. Looks like they may make him become FA and settle for teams with cap room or take far less $ to pick his spot. Or stay in NO for biggest payday. This must be about principle not bball.
The league is just filled with a bunch of morons if they think he is staying.

Yea I saw Broussard say that on Twitter a little while ago.

This is just going to push him farther away. It's basically more about trying to flex their muscles than actually make a deal for the benefit of the franchise. Absolute joke.

they may be losing paul but gaining eric in the deal without the pick still gets them a franchise player. doing the deal without eric and gaining the pic.. gets them a BETTER franchise player.

Im told by a person w/direct knowledge of #Hornets situation that resignations could follow latest #CP3 trade failure #Clippers
I bet Dell will be one of those, which is complete bullshit because he is the first good GM we've had in a while. I fucking hate Stern, I swear. It's really a bad joke, the NBA has been pushing the Hornets to increase ticket sales and get better sponsors and all of that happened, and now this. I think you said it Giant, the league isn't looking out for the franchise, they have another agenda here.

I really hope that it isn't contraction.

Yep. And they want to get 150% back not for the good of the franchise, but for higher value of the Franchise. Basically, they bought out the Hornets when they were in a big hole, and they just want to turn a profit.

Not surprised. He can't even play his guys 5 on 5 in scrimmage.

While there’s been no official transition of power, general manager Dell Demps has been completely pushed to the side in deal-making decisions for the Hornets, multiple league sources told Y! Sports.

“He’s basically a spectator now,” one official said.

Stern has two of his top league office executives – Joel Litvin and Stu Jackson – making calls and conducting negotiations with teams interested in Paul. Demps is still making calls, but rival front offices and agents involved in possible deals with New Orleans say that he’s no longer authorized to decide on any transaction.

I'd have to really consider it if I was them. It's not like either would have a hard time finding jobs, maybe not at their current positions but they are both viewed as up and comers and I think both would find their way back rather quickly.

after last year, you'd be crazy not to want Monty

and Demps has proven he's a good GM through all this mess
both deals that the NBA blocked were very good

The first deal was terrible, and Broussard was the only one reporting that Eric Gordon and the Minnesota pick were in the package together, everyone else said one or the other.
