If Mikhail Prokhorov broke the rules and met with Dwight Howard, then it’s not just that Howard will never be a Net, even if that idea was something of a stretch to begin with.

If Prokhorov met with Orlando’s superstar big man in Miami the other night and the NBA has a watertight case of tampering against the Nets owner, then he probably just killed any chance of re-signing Deron Williams.

Williams is saying all the right things about staying long-term with the Nets. But if the team is penalized because its owner and GM brazenly flouted the rules by meeting with a player who currently is property of another team, then the Nets are looking at losing several No. 1 draft picks, at the very least.

How exactly would that happen? Some cap penalty I'm guessing?

They're trying to say that the Nets will lose picks, won't be able to use those picks in a trade for someone like Dwight Howard, and that might push Deron away from resigning with the Nets.

There was never a meeting. Anyone who actually fell for this, got played by the media.

Yeah, Dwight said he didn't meet with em. I think he got a phone call or something...if I remember right.

Want to provide some factual evidence to that?
Sigh...

This was nothing more than a scare tactic.

Why would the Magic admit to that? When have you ever heard a team just flat out say "yeah we filed tampering charges."

Not saying the meeting did or didn't happen, your logic just seems way to off. You believe everything you read.

The Magic were "looking into" filing tampering charges, then the next day they give Dwight the go-ahead to talk to teams...kinda weird.
