Right now Barkley is still my second QB prospect, behind Andrew Luck of course.

He does have the ability to make all the NFL caliber type of throws. He's going to get picked apart for the recent track record of USC passers, and that's fair, but he's still coming from a highly pro ready program. The big question mark is how he will fare with his size when he steps onto the field with bigger players all around him. I am by no means comparing him directly to Brees, but a guy like Brees shows he can he still manage... quite well.

I never understood why a players draft stock is affected because of past players at their program that played the same position (for better or worse). Especially when said players played in completely different regimes.

The only position I would say its fair is a WR, system wise. But I don't understand it either for Barkley/USC. Are people afraid to draft Andrew Luck because Stanford hasn't had a good QB since Elway? Robert Griffin because Baylor has been terrible without him?

I was just saying. It's like Florida WR's. Never pan out. Not saying I believe it for Barkley, just pointing it out.

Right now, I got:

Luck
Griffin III
Barkley
Tannehill
Jones
Foles

Subject to change soon ahah.

That's a fair list. Landry Jones just doesn't impress me enough to tout him as a first round talent by any stretch.

He has a nice arm, and has pretty solid accuracy, but I just don't see "it" from him. He has crumbled apart in big time games throughout his career for the most part at OU, and I really feel he is a product of the system that the Sooners run. I just don't see the big time franchise quarterback material out of him.

2. Matt Barkley
3. Robert Griffin III
4. Ryan Tannehill

Riley Cooper? Has 13 catches this year... I already said Harvin, and I'll give you Nelson as well.
But look at this list. These are the guys drafted from Florida in the last 10 years or so...

Riley Cooper (2010, 5th Rd.)
Percy Harvin (2009, 1st Rd.)
Louis Murphy (2009, 4th Rd.)
Andre Caldwell (2008, 3rd Rd.)
Chad Jackson (2006, 2nd Rd.)
Taylor Jacobs (2003, 2nd Rd.)
Jabar Gaffney (2002, 2nd Rd.)
Reche Caldwell (2002, 2nd Rd.)
Darrell Jackson (2000, 3rd Rd.)

Out of all that, I see one #1 WR, and one #2 WR. The rest are #3 or #4 WR's. Big time WR's just don't come out of Florida. Jackson was good, and now Harvin. And lets face it, Harvin is overrated. He's good, but he's not performing up to what we all thought. A lot of pretty big names on there, and not a lot of talent.

The more film you watch of Luke Kuechly, the more you respect his game.

I would love to see him working as a WILL in a 4-3 defense. He has great run stuffing abilities.

Wow. Was reading today that at least one NFL GM likes Griffin better than Luck.

Why's that?
I don't want to seem close minded towards RG3 at all. I have some concerns myself, but I think he has the smarts to overcome them.

RGIII has all the tools. Let's just see how he puts it together.

His passing game has been polished off VERY nicely these past few years. He looks confident in the pocket, he is mobile, and he has a cannon to go along with the good technique.

I personally just like Luck and Barkley over him.

I just think Barkley is over-hyped. I don't think he's going to an elite QB that people are making him out to be. I think a West Coast scheme would be the best fit for him.

If you haven't already, you need to check out TY Hilton. Dude is going to be good.

I think he's personally pretty scheme diverse. He's got a big enough arm to stretch the field, and he's got the accuracy to play in the WCO and be successful.

Also..

I'm safely putting Kuechly as my top inside linebacker right now. He doesn't have the physical gifts that Te'o or Burfict have, but he's a damn smart and instinctual football player.

Barkley has the arm to play a conventional offense, but I feel he's too inconsistent throwing the ball down field.
