You know what, I want to see CP3 waste $40 mil and sign with the Knicks for $13 mil.

Because when he does, it means they have nobody else. They cant afford ANYONE. Iman Shumpert would be too pricey to return even. A rookie.

The would suck epically, and wouldnt even own their own pick.

nola, I think I remember reading that the extra luxury cap penalties don't come into play until the 3rd year of the new CBA.

ESPN 1050 NY:

"Not IF, but WHEN Chris Paul is a Knick."

If a Nets fan came on and said “WHEN Dwight Howard is a Net, not IF,” they would be taken off the air.

Ludicrous.

^to be fair, as of today the knicks at least have a foundation

the nets have literally only deron, and he hasnt signed an extension yet

thats stupid though mexi. theyll hardly be able to sign cp3. the rest of their roster would be TRASH. its not even worth it going after just cp3..

I'm leaving it at this... everyone said Melo won't be a Knick and it happened. I'm not saying Chris Paul is gonna be a Knick, but I'm not gonna argue for or against it. I'm just gonna sit back and watch, and when it's all said and done... we'll know the answer. I'm satisfied with Melo and Amar'e as long as we put a team around them, but I'll be stoked if we can somehow nab CP3.

id be stoked too until reality hits me and i see that the rest of the team would be trash. you can build a much better team sooner rather than later by not going for cp3.

Also, if anyone has the urge to, they shouldn't compare this to the Heat big 3 if it does happen because honestly, they wouldn't be nearly as good.

I said I'm satsified with STAT and Melo, but I'd like CP3. If we were to get Paul we'd eventually be able to put a team around our guys, just not in the first year. I don't mind not getting Paul though. It's whatever, as long as my team can win I'll be happy.

i've been saying the same thing. I'd rather the knicks built around what they have right now. But if they got Chris Paul i'm going to be pissed either. I'll be pretty happy. But I'd be HAPPIER if they used that money for more important things.

It just seems like they're going all-out for him. Idk. I know the CAP hasn't changed much in the new CBA, and I doubt Donnie Walsh would have gone through all this last year if he didn't feel they could pull it off. And he only left because they gave up more than he wanted to give up and got stepped over by ownership.

and he was also using a walker to get around, lol.

And I keep reading that the knicks are "gathering assets" in preparation for signing CP3 next year. I don't even know what "gathering assets" means. whatever.

itll take three years to put the right players around those three. its not worth it. this isnt a video game..

i know this isn't a video game, and as i said twice... I don't mind not getting CP3. I'm perfectly happy with STAT and Melo. I'm just repeating myself over and over because what I'm saying isn't even a point of arguement, it's exactly what it says. I'm happy with STAT and Melo and wouldn't be upset if we got CP3. I prefer our team without CP3, we can always get a PG at another time. Right now we have Mr. Big Shot and we need a Center. that's my primary focus.

you should be saying youd be a little upset if they went all out for cp3. sure itd be nice but the rest of the team would be complete crap and would piss me off as a fan.

i didn't say all that, i was referring to the "I don't mind not getting CP3. I'm perfectly happy with STAT and Melo." part when I said I keep repeating myself. I know I should be upset, but as I said... I'm gonna sit back and watch it take place. The season hasn't even started yet and everyone is wondering what's gonna happen with CP3, I'm worried about what the Knicks are gonna do in their 66 games this season. Maybe some of them will involve Paul, maybe they won't. Who knows, I'm more focused on what we have now, not a player who wears a Hornets jersey on the 1st day of the season (most likely). I wanna win, and I don't care how it happens as long as it does.

It just makes me happy that players again are saying "I want to play for the knicks. That's my preferred destination" especially after we were a laughing stock for a few years. It really is a nice feeling :)

phenomenal typo in Chris Paul quote today:

``I don’t think about it to tell you the truth,’’ Paul said, referring to the trade rumors.

``I’m just ready to get out here and compete. This is what I do. I have a very tight circle and they know this whole lockout thing has been driving my nuts. I’m just happy to get out on the court and compete.’’

Agent Says Chris Paul Requests Trade to N.Y.

Chris Paul’s(notes) agent informed New Orleans Hornets officials on Wednesday that his client will not sign a contract extension and wants to be traded to the New York Knicks, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

As soon as the NBA lifts its lockout restrictions, Hornets general manager Dell Demps wants to meet with Paul and hear that directive from him.

Nevertheless, the prospects of the Hornets executing a trade with the Knicks appear to be relatively dim. The Knicks simply don’t have the trade assets that come close to meeting New Orleans’ criteria for a deal. Demps has been listening to overtures from teams around the league, and has been actively working under the assumption that Paul would reject a contract extension.

The Hornets have no intention of letting Paul walk away at season’s end without trying to get maximum value for him. There are several teams, including the Boston Celtics, that could be willing to make a deal for Paul with the hope of convincing him to eventually sign an extension.

The Hornets will be motivated to make a deal as soon as possible for Paul, and aren’t completely determined to get a point guard in return for him, sources said. They’re willing to play Jarrett Jack(notes) as the starter for the rest of the season, and mostly want to gather the best possible package of overall talent and draft picks.

Paul has reached out to Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard(notes) recently, encouraging Howard to find a way for the two to play together, sources told Yahoo! Sports. That would be a difficult scenario for the Knicks to make happen. Paul’s desire to join the Knicks was cemented after he spent so much time in New York over the summer with close friend, Carmelo Anthony(notes).

If Paul were to opt out of the final year of his contract and become a free agent after this season, he could sign a maximum four-year, $74 million deal with another team. The Knicks currently would have enough salary-cap room to offer him a four-year, $55.5 million contract with a starting salary of $13 million.
Well, I'll buy it when he says it himself.

And someone told me he wants the trade now so he can resign after the 6 months so he can get the big contract, whereas he'd have to take a paycut.

I don't see how we'd be able to make the trade. Not nearly enough pieces in place to wow them.
