if i was chris and the game is what i truly loved then going to okc would be the best. they have the better team and would be contenders now and in the future still; opposed to going to ny and sucking melos dick cause they would have any other players for them.

thats far from a bad deal. i dont know why you think they should give russy and harden+
You can't just look at the players in the trade, but you have to look at the system the players would play in. Westbrook is about the worse type of PG you could ask to fit in Monty Williams system. Trading Paul for Westbrook straight up would be a horrific move on the Hornets part.

It's not what that I think they should give Westbrook and Harden plus more, that's what the Hornets asked for. Whether anyone here believes me on that or not, isn't really of my concern. I'd much rather the Eric Gordon, DeAndre Jordan, plus either Bledsoe, Aminu, or Minny's 1st rounder for Paul deal.

But again, Russell Westbrook playing in Monty Williams system would be a disaster waiting to happen. We already had the SG version of Westbrook in Marcus Thornton and he was in the doghouse from the start of the season and eventually got traded at the deadline.

Maybe you should get a new head coach then, because you don't miss out on a talent like Russell Westbrook because he doesn't fit your system. For special talents you do what it takes to make it work.

exactly what i was going to say. you build a team around the player(s) not the coaches system. unless its a coach like popovich or phil.

It has to be an owner thing. I'm sure most don't want to pay high salaries for guys that aren't on their team.

You also don't trade your elite PG for another PG who you know doesn't fit your system.

You build a team around a plan, and that plan includes which types of players you want to win the Championship. So point being, Russell Westbrook would not fit the direction the Hornets are heading.

The direction you're heading is bottom dwellers in the West until you get some talent in return for CP3 before he leaves. Russy is the best talent you could acquire.

A good organization knows that you have to adjust your plan because not everything is going to happen the way you want to. You adjust your plan to a talent like that.

you guys are also NOT heading towards a championship so if you can trade cp3 for russy and it happens you start building a team around him to go for a championship lol.

A good organization goes out and finds the players they want to fit what they want to do. The Hornets have offers on the table, offers better than just swapping Chris Paul for Russell Westbrook. Offers that would actually fit the defensive mindset they want to build on. Russell Westbrook doesn't even have defense on his mind. The Hornets should fire their head coach and trade away their current players because they traded for one player that doesn't fit the system? Give me a break.

I'll say it for a third time, Russell Westbrook for Chris Paul would be a terrible deal for the Hornets. There are probably better deals on the table that actually fit the Hornets. I don't think I even have to dive into the fact that real great/elite players fit any system they play in. Look at our lists that we did during the lockout, those guys could fit on any team because they can play for any coach. Westbrook? Good luck having him play for defensive minded head coaches. The fact that yall think the Hornets should completely gut everything (and I include the Coach in that) because of one supremely talented player who has not proven to meet his talent level is just laughable.

This is all a moot point though, the Hornets wouldn't do that trade, they'd find a better one that fit them better.

You're not gutting anything. You have like 5 players on your team and one average coach who isn't worth having over Russell Westbrook.

It's simple, think of it this way. In this hypothetical situation CP3 isn't on the team, he left in FA. The Thunder call you up and say they'll trade you Russell Westbrook for Monty Williams.

How do you say no to that?

Are the Celtics planning on trading for a younger Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to convince him to sign an extension?
