He just needs to find better sources, or name names so we can all say how stupid they are for giving him that info.

Broussard is a hack. Last year he sat on SC about 10 minutes before LeBron's "Decision" aired. We all knew he was going to the Heat, Broussard said it was happening, and he still said "... but I think LeBron picks Cleveland. I know they say Miami is a done deal but I'm not so sure." Like... wtf, bro.

And yeah, Knicks could afford him. But then they'd have to rely on rookies and veterans signing league minimum to add depth, and depth is actually what killed them this past year.

They're about $1M over CAP, and Chauncey is in last year of contract making around $14M.

I actually would prefer to get more depth for the team, than sign Paul. And trading for him would be stupid because we have little to no draft picks or value to give the Hornets.

But I'm not saying I wouldn't be happy if we signed Chris Paul. I'd be pretty ecstatic. We'd just dominate 2012-2013 season dropping 120 pts and giving up 118 pts per game.

PS. I get all my news from Incarcerated Bob on Twitter. Dude is as legit as it gets.

PPS. Nah, I don't actually. I called him out for guaranteeing LeBron becoming a Knick and he blocked me, and about 100k other followers who knew he was a dumbass.

Oh would you look at that. Man I would really want a Cp3 jersey.

I think there are a lot of barriers for this to actually happen. But if Cp3 trully wants to play here then it will force the Hornets to trade him to the Knicks. The Hornets will look to get value for him, but if Cp3 doesnt budge on coming here then they will have to settle with trading with the Knicks.

I also think Paul isnt about the money, like James and Wade took less money.
Lol, the classic delusional New York fan. Your media is the driving force behind the lack of knowledge yall have on the situation. Chris Paul has a better chance at being a Hornet than a Knick. It's not happening, he won't be able to sign there and the Hornets are definitely not trading him to New York. "Settle with trading with the Knicks." LOL

• The Knicks have $39.5 million committed just to Stoudemire and Anthony. (And before you ask, they cannot renegotiate their contracts downward.)

• Even if the Knicks got rid of everybody else and just had those two on the roster, the 10 "cap holds" for minimum salary players would occupy another $5 million in salary cap space.

• That means the Knicks have an absolute minimum of $44.5 million committed.

• Which, in turn, leaves the Knicks with an absolutely best-case scenario of a $13.5 million starting salary for Paul.

Paul will make $16.4 million this year and would be opting out of $17.7 million in 2011-12. Should he opt out next summer, a new five-year contract with the Hornets would start at $17.177 million and pay him as much as $22.3 million by the end -- a total of $117 million. In comparison, over the life of the maximum allowable four-year deal with the Knicks, he could get only $57.6 million.

So if Paul really wants to go to New York, he can go -- as long as he's willing to give up, at a minimum, nearly sixty million dollars to do it. (The same, incidentally, applies for Deron Williams or Dwight Howard.)

In fact, even this scenario seems optimistic as far as Paul's New York earning potential; it would basically involve New York giving away Iman Shumpert, Toney Douglas, and Landry Fields, not to mention whatever players the Knicks sign this offseason or draft next June. The Knicks would have only the "mini" mid-level and a bunch of minimum contracts to use to surround Paul, Anthony and Amare -- they'd have vastly less, in other words, than even the Heat had to work with last summer.
Unfortunately that won't stop the NY papers or their fans from fantasizing about it and probably hoping that Paul is willing to forego 40 million. Which he won't.

Paul: My Heart Is In New Orleans

Chris Paul was in Brooklyn on Tuesday in support of a Carmelo Anthony charity event at the Boys & Girls Club.

Paul was asked about the Knicks.

"My heart is in New Orleans," said Paul.

ESPN's Chris Broussard reported on Monday that Paul's preference is to end up with the Knicks.

Im not delusional, your just worried because Cp3 is going to leave the team and its very evident. Its the same shit with Lebron. If Cp3 wanted to stay he would sign a new contract. Very soon it will be his opportunity to resign, so we will see. James and Bosh took less money, so why not Paul? I also said it would be very difficult to happen, Im just looking at the fact that the Hornets dont have a good team around him, its New Orleans and the owner runs his team like a mom and pop organization. Oh wait nvm the NBA runs the Hornets now, and the fact that Cp3 has a good friendship with Melo and Amare.

CP3 isn't going to be a Knick. Get over it. At the end of the day, he's not going to take that much less money to play with you guys.

Lol this just shows more that you don't have the first clue what your talking about.

I'm worried? If anything I've been the person saying most "the second Chris can get out of town he's gone." My worries went away a long time ago.

Your delusional, the only way CP would be a Knick is if Melo or Amare leave town. If that is the possibility you are speaking of, your right.

If he does want to leave and be a Knick, I'm sure he's very well aware of the Knicks' CAP state.

and Chris Paul, in New York, can easily make up that $40M he'd be losing through Endorsements within 3 years.

Dont know if its already been said:

- Salary CAP this season is 58mil and right now its being reported that it will stay the same for next season
- Knicks have over 22mil in expirings
- Meaning thats about 17mil in CAP for when he can opt out

So it is possible to have all 3

22 mil in expirings before you consider the raises that Amar'e and Melo will get on their max deals and signing your draft picks.

yea i read what they can offer is closer to $13-$14M.
So lets say, $43,140,779 million between just four players.

Then add the $13-14M for CP to that, making it $56,140,799M or $57,140,799M.

So your spending $56-57M on just five players, leaving you with just $1M to spend on filling out the rest of your 7-10 players.

Once again, unless Melo or Amare are traded, it isn't happening.

You gotta know the numbers BC

And Both Melo and Amare's contract only increase by $1,731,094 (Amare) and $933,000 (Melo)

We dont have a 1st in this years draft because of the TMac trade or a 2nd because we traded 2 to the Warriors in the Lee trade and ours to the Suns in the Amare S&T

And the number is $41,073,799 nola

We have a team option on Douglas but Im assuming we'd keep him

So my number of 17mil remaining to offer is still right... 19mil if we decline Douglas.

You act like we wont have to go over the CAP, we're fucked in terms of 1st rd draft picks as is these next few years lol, so I dont know if any new sanctions there will be because of the lockout since I havent been following it.

I aint saying its GOING TO happen but it could

It's really a simple concept, I'll repost this:

I also bolded another important part that nobody is talking about. So lets go over this again:

- You have Melo who will make $19,450,000M next season.
- You have Amare who will make $19,948,799M next season.

So only two players are going to make $39,398,799M or 68% of the cap.

- Add Renaldo Balkman who will make $1,675,000M next season.
- Add Toney Douglas who will make (if they pick up his contract) $2,067,880M next season.

So that is $43,141,679M or 74.4% of the cap. $41,073,799M if they don't pick up the option on Douglas, but like you said they probably will. Like the above quote mentions, the absolute most you can offer Paul to start is $13.5M. So when adding that, you have $56,641,679M tied up in just five players. Leaving you with just $1,358,321M to spread out amongst 7-10 players.

So once again, unless Melo or Amare leave New York, it's not happening.

Once again, we're obviously going to have to go over the CAP to make it work, but obviously we're not going to sign anyone else before, if we have a chance, to sign Paul.

Im not understanding why the most we can offer is 13.5 if we have 17mil to offer, unless thats just how much the MAX is.

But we shall see I guess.

I think your confusing the old cap system with the new one. You can't just go "over the cap" anymore and pay a small penalty. That penalty is far greater now than it was and it will greatly influence owners NOT to go far over the cap like teams were in years past.

The reason you can only offer $13.5M is because you would already be at or around $44M with just Melo, Amare, Balkman, and Douglas. 44 + 13.5 = 57.5 or 58M, the cap number.

And if the Knicks signed Chris, you'd have to surround those five guys with seven to ten other terrible players. The Knicks would be like the worst team in NBA history. CP, Melo, Amare, Balkman, Douglas, and seven to ten Brian Scalabrine type players. Why would you even want that? Dallas already proved a 8-10 man rotation beats a 6-7 man rotation, and the Heats 6-7 man rotation would be better than the Knicks.

To kind of break down the whole lux tax thing that I talked about, owners would just let their teams go over the lux tax and pay the penalties in years past. The best example I know of is this. You have a team like the Lakers who had to pay about 19M in lux tax penalties last year. Under the new CBA, that would increase to 45M just THIS YEAR. And if you are a repeat offender, that number would jump another 20M to 65M dollars for going over the cap. So if you are in that 19M range for four straight seasons the owner would be penalized about 76M in the old CBA, the new CBA they would be penalized 260M!Owners were hesitant to just pay 19M, no owner will play 45-65M to go over the tax.
