The neckbeard could be returning to Chicago.

Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears will attempt to claim Kyle Orton off waivers.

Actually, McClure said he was confirming Jay Glazer’s report. But Glazer never actually reported anything; he just said the Chiefs or Bears “could” claim Orton and it took a life of its own.

Let’s take McClure’s report at face value, though. We’re surprised Mike Martz would embrace the move, but it doesn’t mean the Bears will land Orton.

Waiver priority is decided by record, so the 7-3 Bears have to hope a lot of other teams pass. The Chiefs could claim Orton. Even teams like the Colts, Dolphins, or Redskins could try to kick the tires on Orton down the stretch.

We hope the Bears get him, if only because it’s a good story. Orton was never good enough for the Bears to fully get on board with, so they traded him in the Jay Cutler deal.

Now they want to ask Orton to help get the team back to the playoffs. So that Cutler can take over again.
My savior!!! :(

Orton pushed for release after Cutler injury
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on November 22, 2011, 7:49 PM EST
Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow AP

It’s no coincidence that Kyle Orton was cut by the Broncos soon after Jay Cutler’s injury in Chicago.

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Orton’s agent pushed for the release after they saw Cutler needed surgery on his thumb.

Orton reportedly has “let it be known” that the Bears are one of the teams he’d like to play for. We wouldn’t be surprised if Orton’s agent got an indication on Sunday from the Bears that the interest was mutual.

The Chicago Tribune reported that the Bears are indeed interested. It’s possible they could let him pass through waivers — they are 30th in line — and sign Orton to a separate deal if he clears.

“This was the right decision for our football team. We feel good about our quarterback group, and this gives Kyle an opportunity to help another team and showcase his talents,” Broncos coach John Fox said in a statement.

Orton is due $2.58 million on the rest of his contract this year. The Chiefs, Redskins, and Colts seem like potential teams that could claim him, but Orton appears more likely to wind up in Chicago.

The reunion sets up the possibility of an amazing storyline in a few weeks. Orton could return to Denver on December 11 as a member of the Bears, and face Tebowmania from the opposing sideline.
I would hate to see K.O. get killed by Dumervil and Miller if this happens lol.

No...

Hanie would still start, Bears are looking for a vet backup, so they don't have to go to Enderle in case something were to happen.

However, if Hanie sucks, which is likely, then we would see Orton. Don't get your hype on Hanie.

I hope we are able to pick him up, but I doubt it since we are very low on the waiver wire. Houston at 7-3 also is above us.

The Texans don't want him, they are placing Schaub on IR and signing Kellen Clemens. They don't have any interest in Orton.

Kansas City is the only other obstacle IMO.

I heard Orton is trying to get the word out he won't report if any other team claims him. Not sure how true this is or if it will stop another team anyway.

Agreed, KC is the only obstacle, I think. Bears will probably end up with him.

Bears signed Josh McCown.

He sucks, but knows the Martz offense.

I'd rather have Orton, he doesn't know the Marz offense, but is at least average.
