All I'm saying is he hasn't proven anything yet for people to think differently and until he does, I will feel the same way I do right now.

He is the most frustrating QB to watch. Pick 6s all around.

He should be much better considering he was the #5 pick, and that he has always had a talented offensive line (hurt this year) with a good running game and good weapons.

seriously? well since you played the stat game so will I.

Rookie Year: 53.8 Comp % - 12 TDs/20 INT, 162.9 yd/Gm - QB Rating 63
2010: 54.8 Comp % - 17 TDs/13 INT, 205.7 yd/Gm - QB Rating 75.3
2011: 57.1 Comp % - 14 TDs/10 INT, 233.3 yd/Gm - QB Rating 79.9.

It's funny, you take his total numbers, but his total numbers don't show how he's progressed or regress over the course of his career. His improvement might not be "drastic", but you can't expect drastic with a poor run game, ugly play calling, and a terrible offensive line this year. And yet despite this, overall he's still improved his game in multiple ways. He's putting up more yards, completing more passes, and his TD/INT rate is improving.

Way too much criticism being put on this kid because everyone in New York expected him to be the next Joe Namath.

He still isn't very good, maybe he will continue to get better, as he should. He was taken #5 overall, he should be playing at a high level, and he isn't. The blame can go everywhere, I still haven't been impressed. I'm not going to sit here and argue all night about it, I just haven't been impressed with his play and I've seen several games of his. I'd hope he is getting better, them numbers all around are low, shouldn't take much.

And as BC and I have both stated he isn't getting better this year because of the lack of execution around him.

I don't see how you can stick up for someone with these career numbers

43 TD's -- 43 INT's

55.2 COMP %

72.9 QB rating

But it's never his fault, the blame can't be placed on him. I'm not saying it's ALL his fault, because you do need the help to be successful, but he's just an average QB at best and I stand by that.
They're skewed because of his terrible rookie numbers. Granted, the stats still aren't great.

I've said time and time again though that Sanchez needs more team than a lot of the other QB's who come into the league. I can't think of any QBs who started for just one season in college and were successful right away (other than Cam, who has more natural talent than Mark and the majority of QBs in the league) in the NFL.

He started 16 games in college. Bradford started 30 in college. Dalton started 52. Ponder started 34. Gabbert started 26. Tebow started 43. Stafford started 34. Freeman started 33. Matt Ryan started 36. Flacco started 26.

It goes on an on, they all have a lot more experience than he does and Mark had to learn a lot more about playing QB than any of them have in the NFL. They learned a lot of shit that Mark's learned when they were in college.

Like I said.. Once he proves it, I will then eat my words and give the credit he deserves, right now he doesn't deserve much, regardless. I know football is a team game, I know how it all works, you need the pieces around you to be successful in the NFL, I understand that. It can be argued either way, he'll just have to convince me otherwise.

So until he proves it none of us should sit here and say he will never lead the team to a Super Bowl ring.

Part of professional sports, you'll have that. I'm pretty sure Sanchez isn't the only one that's been through things like this. I just don't believe it will happen, right or wrong time will tell. We all have a right to our opinions, whether you like it or not.

My point is you preach that we all have to wait and see how it plays out, yet you sit here and make assumptions based on 2 1/2 years in the league.

dont get all defensive about "opinions".

I'm pretty sure if you took a vote, it would lean vastly in one direction, I'm rather certain I'm not the only one that feels this way. His play has just been average, despite what has been around him or what the play calling has been, I easily admit that can make a huge difference when things are in the right place for a QB to be successful, but the numbers don't lie despite all of it, he hasn't been very good. He has the right to be critiqued as such, I just haven't seen it. I'm making the assumptions on what I've seen so far and what I've seen so far isn't good enough to win a championship, even though he's been close. He has to get better, he's admitted that and they need to put him in better situations.

Jets can no longer hide Mark Sanchez

[/color]The headlines from Thursday night's game will be about Tim Tebow. They also should be about the lack of progress by the Jets offense in year three of the Mark Sanchez era.

The Jets defense is the same as it ever was, a Super Bowl caliber group. It played a sensational game on Thursday night, and any moderately competent offense and quarterback would have easily put the Broncos away before Tebowmania took hold.

Consider: The Broncos started five possessions in Jets territory. They got three points out of those five chances.

In the 10 drives leading into Denver's game-winning march, the Broncos had two first downs. Denver went three and out eight times in that span, including four straight times. It was as dominant a defensive performance as you'll see.

At this point, all the Jets ask Mark Sanchez to do is not make the big mistake. He still made it, delivering seven points to the Broncos on a game-changing third quarter pick six.

Throws like that make the Jets run on third down and punt the ball away instead of playing to win. Throws like that make Rex Ryan play it conservative even when the Jets face a terrible secondary like the Patriots. The Jets don't trust their quarterback.

Sanchez is leading the same streaky offense with non-stop slants that puttered around .500 into December in 2009.

You can only hide your quarterback for so long, and Sanchez's stagnation is plain for everyone to see.

yes but as we've also stated, he spent less time in college. Now, granted that's his screw up, but the Jets also took a huge gamble when they drafted him. They knew he had little college experience. It's going to take him more NFL years than the average QB to get a feel of things, and and when you combine college+NFL, it's probably the same amount of years in total. I'm defending the guy because quite frankly I think he stinks, but I also understand his situation is much different than we're used to, and I feel like it's too soon to give up on him.

and i'm going to bed.... lol.

Had to laugh at this comment...

Signed, Dolphins fan.

Enough is enough it’s been three years and he hasn’t improved. He has some of the best weapons around him and he just doesn’t take advantage. Hell, even Rex Grossman made it to the super bowl with a great defense behind him.

The guy is Chad Pennington with absolutely no accuracy. Time to pick a QB in the first round to compete with Sanchez.

But he had a great winning percentage the last two years. He's a "winner".
The defense was the reason he has a great winning percentage. The Jets have had the best defense in the league the past 2 years or close to it. And the best running game in the league one of those years. He has benefited from a good overall team.
