Publicly, the Philadelphia Eagles have been coy about the status of quarterback Michael Vick for Sunday night's game against the New York Giants. Vick broke two ribs in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals and has not practiced this week while backup Vince Young has taken snaps with the first team. But Geoff Mosher of the News Journal has a source telling him that the Eagles have already ruled Vick out for Sunday and are moving ahead with Young as the starting quarterback for the game:

Vick won’t play in the major division showdown, an NFL source said, which leaves Vince Young to make his first start in almost one year. Young, who is 2-0 career against the Giants, hasn’t started since Nov. 21, 2010.
Not a major surprise, but good for Geoff for nailing it down. As I've said before, the key for the Eagles if they're to have any hope is to run the ball at least 30 times and preferably closer to 40. Young is a better running quarterback than he is a passing one. He's likely to be without his best receiver, as Jeremy Maclin has shoulder and hamstring injuries. And they have one of the best running backs in the league in LeSean McCoy. We'll see what they come up with for a game plan, but if I were the Eagles I might have been taking some real serious notes on what the Broncos were doing last night.

I'm still not 100% sold on the Giants winning this game. They have a bad run D and without Boley, McCoy can hurt them in the passing game as well. Mark Herzlich will get more plays on D this week, and i'm guessing either Jacquian Williams or Greg Jones will be assigned to McCoy.

Man I really cant wait for this game. This is the Eagles season right now and it needs to be stressed to the Giants that they can end it with a win. I dont think Vince Young has what it takes to beat the Giants, he's not going to play better than Vick and he has the same type of skill set as Vick so it wont be that much of a gameplan difference. I think if we jam their receivers and consistently put 8 in the box, we will be fine.

Smart move. In a season that's rapidly becoming a lost year it would be foolish to play against the Giants and risk serious injury.

I'm interested to see how Young plays as a starter.
