I'm just gonna say this on the latest:

I think the union will decline the offer. Fisher already said he hates the offer. THe player reps have already said they hate the offer... The only way this deal happens is A) if they have the players vote on it. Or B] If the players submit a proposal to the owner that is very similar to what it is now, just a few tweaks.

Hope i'm wrong...

One of the "experts" on ESPN said the season is in real jeopardy if the union doesn't accept the deal.

Yeah, because the owners are supposedly going to their 47% offer to the players of BRI instead of 50. Which we all know the players want 52%. And from what I read, the player reps want 53%.

A source tells Shaun Powell that if given the opportunity, the union's full membership of players would vote to approve the NBA's revised proposal.

"Source told me if full membership votes on the owner's deal, NBA would open for business by Wednesday," Powell writes.

"This the best deal the owners will extend, everyone understands that," said the source.

Powell cites a "silent majority" of rank-and-file players who want to get back on the court and are uninterested in the decertification process or further negotiations with the owners.

On Saturday night, Billy Hunter notified Sam Amick that he will submit the NBA's revised proposal -- with amendments presumably recommended by the union's executive committee -- for a vote by the 30 player representatives on Monday.

"We will vote on the NBA's proposal. The proposal will be presented with some proposed amendments," Hunter told Amick via text message.

The union would essentially be sending back a counter-offer that, if accepted by the NBA, will lead to a final agreement between the two sides. A full vote of the NBPA membership for ratification would follow.

Amick also reports that there were indications Saturday night that the union is leaning toward disclaiming interest, effectively removing itself as the representative of the players. It is not clear how this potential intent would coexist with the pending vote.

It could be that Hunter intends to communicate to the league that without adoption of the union's amendments, the league's latest proposal could not be agreed to. In that event, the union would need to step aside and make way for the players to file suit against the owners for antitrust violations.

David Stern maintains that the owners have no more room to negotiate on their proposal. But it is not known whether the league would in fact give consideration to the players' requested amendments in order to finalize a new CBA, and avoid losing the union as a bargaining partner.

I'm concerned about this potential 20 year old age limit for the NBA draft.. That would screw over all the current bad teams, who would have historically bad draft classes for the next 2 years.

And there was rumors about if the season doesn't happen, the draft order for 2012 would be based on teams records over the last 5 years average out, which would be fucking stupid for the Cavs at least..

Well, the Cavs got the rights to swap picks in 2012 with miami if they want in the LeBron S&T, which would move them back because our record over the last 5 years is better then theirs.

That'd be so dumb. Pistons would get a worse pick than what they deserve.
And teams like Memphis would get a better pick than they deserve.
