Rob Ryan Sees Himself As NFL's Best D-Coordinator

Star-Telegram - Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan was honest Friday, but absent were any proclamations of future butt-kickings or guarantees.

After proclaiming in training camp that the Cowboys would whip the Eagles, Ryan again took full responsibility for Sunday's loss and said he won't make such comments again.

Ryan said he thought the Eagles were more motivated because of the words he said in training camp, and that a man in his position should never have said what he said.

"I gave [the Eagles] a little extra motivation by my comments," he said. "As I told everybody before, nobody ever puts it back in there, an assistant coach shouldn't be doing that. I let slip one out of there, and it gets away from me. I put too much pressure on our guys, which is not what we want to do. That's why I felt the whole thing was my fault, which it really was. It doesn't happen very often. It's not going to be a weekly press conference where I screw something up. It usually happens the other way around.

"I take a lot of pride in my job. I'm the best at what I do. Every once in a while you throw a dud out there. You can't be great if you can't come back from one bad game."

They rank 8th in the NFL so far in total defense. Last year they were ranked 23rd without him. I don't necessarily think he's the best, but he's pretty good.
