It's been one rough season for Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis.

Hillis came under criticism for allegedly skipping a Halloween event at the Cleveland Boys and Girls Club on Monday, according to the Plain Dealer.

LeCharles Bentley, a former Browns lineman and board member of the club, got a commitment from Hillis' brother and business agent to appear at the event, which was then promoted in the local media. Another source told the newspaper that more than 40 kids were on hand.

On Monday night, Bentley wrote on his Twitter account: "Peyton Hillis looking for 10mil guaranteed from Browns and can't show up to kids charity event? #ManPlease."

A text message to Hillis' agent asking for comment was not returned.

A Browns spokesman had no comment other than saying that the appearance was scheduled and promoted independently of the team.

The Madden cover man and 1,000-yard rusher from last season started this campaign unhappy over his contract, and has been in and (mostly) out of the lineup due to hamstring problems and strep throat.
lol.

It's getting creative. Not only has it effected him from playing games, but it's effected him off the field. That Madden Curse is becoming more of a force. Everyone be warned.

Brees for Madden 11?
He was injured in OT against the Falcons in Week 3 and played the entire season with a MCL tear, same injury that Cutler suffered in the NFCCG last year and the same injury thats caused LeGarrette Blount to miss the last three weeks.

Obviously not as severe as some other injuries Madden cover guys have had, but still a pretty bad and painful one.

Browns' Hillis sits out another practice with hamstring injury

Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis still hasn't been able to make his way back to practice as he deals with a strained hamstring.

Browns coach Pat Shurmur had said he expected Hillis, who has missed the past two games, to take part in practice as the team prepares for Sunday's game at Houston. But as the team began its workout, Hillis walked back inside the team's facility with injured teammates Mohamed Massaquoi, Ray Ventrone and a trainer and did not return to the field during the portion of practice open to the media.

Hillis returned to practice for one day last week, but suffered a setback and missed the 20-10 loss in San Francisco. Shurmur had anticipated Hillis doing some running.

"He's been running around, but the football stuff is different," Shurmur said. "We'll see how much he can do."

Hillis' second season in Cleveland has been complicated with controversies surrounding his contract and injuries. On Tuesday, he came under fire for allegedly skipping a Halloween event at the Cleveland Boys and Girls Club on Monday.

Shurmur said running back Montario Hardesty could miss several weeks because of a torn calf muscle. That adds importance to the return of Hillis, as the Browns have only reserve Chris Ogbonnaya and Thomas Clayton, who signed Tuesday, on the roster.

Not to mention he threw double the amount of interceptions from his previous season and the Seahawks pulled off probably the biggest upset in playoff history on them.

they seriously sent a text message to his agent? Look, i understand thats the "hip" thing now, but real people hitthe little green button and talk on the phone for important stuff.

But the guy's got injuries to worry about. I could understand the criticism if he was healthy all year. But he's banged up. Being at halloween events his "brother and agent set up for him" isn't going to be at the top of his list.

I think this is why the Browns didnt pay him, cuz he might be a 1 hit wonder. Looks like the Browns were right in their assessment. Maybe Hillis had something more important to do and couldnt go. Gotta wait and see what Hillis says.

I wouldn't say he's a one hit wonder, he just can't stay healthy at this point.. The talent is there.

Yea, I wouldnt say that either. But there have been numerous players who this has happened to so at the end of the day its good for the team that the Browns didnt pay him.
