The Portland Trailblazers’ former No. 1 pick Greg Oden posted Thursday on his personal Twitter account that he ran for the first time since undergoing his second microfracture surgery 11 months ago.

“In LA right now working out,” Oden wrote. “I ran the other day for the first time in awhile. Felt good!”

That's definetly good to hear, though it's crazy he just ran for the first time in 11 months.

You just have to wonder what type of player he would be without injuries, I think he could battle Dwight for the #1 center spot.

I feel bad for Oden, I really hope he can comeback and just become at least a role player, and stay healthy for the most part. He could have had a Dwight Howard type impact if he never got hurt and was able to fully develop.

It sucks for Portland, they could potentially have their own big three with Roy, Aldridge, and Oden.

Maybe this lockout is good for Oden potentially. Same with Roy, but guess we will see.

Yeah, I was just going to say, the lockout probably has helped Oden a good deal.

I'm not sure if the Blazers gave him the qualifying offer, or if they plan too, but to be honest I'd love the Pistons to sign Oden for the right price. I still feel like he can give you a solid 10 and 10. Plus everyone knows about the magical witch-doctor, Arnie Kander lol.

Great news for him. I can't imagine not running for 11 months...thats crazy.

I think this lockout does help him, but i'm not sure it helps Roy much. I mean I don't think he can really help his knees at all from the sounds of it.

If Oden comes back and is not wearing some braces on his knees, i'm gonna be pissed.

I still think Oden can come back and dominate...(but it will take him awhile)

Injuries put a major dent in his potential, but it's good to hear that's he's at least getting active again.

Hopefully he'll stay injury free for a while

you think he can come in and dominate? you really believe that? hes going to be solid still, i think. but he wont ever dominate. maybe he can get hot for a few games here and there.

i just wonder what kind of shape hes in. 11 months without running would lead me to believe he hasnt done much else.

I've been thinking the same thing. Oden could be a dominant center he just has bad luck with injuries, now that he's had problems with both knees I don't see him reaching his full potential but he can still be a good player. This lockout can help him get healthy again and puts no pressure on him to rush back.

I really doubt he will ever become dominant.. He can't have much lift and athleticism left

Yeah, I totally think he can dominate. People have come back from injuries and have done well before. Amar'e had his knee, sure it was just one knee and not both, but Oden can come back and eventually dominate I think. I don't see him being as good as he could of been, but I think he will still do fine.

he's always been overrated IMO
im not saying draft bust though

amazing defensively. but i just always looked at him as a better Marcus Camby, which isn't a bad thing mind you

Yeah, he is better at scoring than Camby...well other than mid-range jumpers maybe.

he cant be as good as he was projected but you still think he could dominate. youre contradicting yourself.

amare has a shot, he always had a midrange. after his surgery he worked harder on his shot. oden needs to bang, and score inside. with TWO pretty much blown out knees he wont be able to do that.

and i dont agree with the camby/oden thing. oden would have been much better. he would have had the total package for a "real" center in this league. over time oden could have gained a nice shot. he has nice hands. hes just behind now because hes been working on rehabbing and not practicing.
