AP - Unhappy he was trade bait, Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel criticized management and compared the team’s front-office to people who play fantasy football.

“Couple people upstairs might not want me, but who cares. They’ve probably never played football,” Samuel said Wednesday. “It’s a business and they run it like a business and they’re going to do what they need to do. They’re playing with a lot of money, playing fantasy football, doing their thing.”

Asked if he was referring to GM Howie Roseman and president Joe Banner, Samuel replied: “Howie and Joe? I don’t know, do they fit the comment I made? “There ya go. You think they’re upstairs playing fantasy football with the owner’s money?”

No lol, he's right. They tried to buy a team, and that never works.

I don't see how you can buy a team with a hard cap in place.. They spent their cap space on the best player available.

No, I like to state my opinion, it being you can't buy a team with a hard cap in place..

If you have the cap space to sign players, then use it, that's the point.

But that doesn't work lol
Why doesn't it work? It's worked for the Jets the past couple of seasons. They haven't won the Super Bowl but they've been incredibly close. The Jets built their roster around guys they drafted (Brick, Mangold, Revis, Harris, and Sanchez) and then fleshed it out with free agent acquisitions.

Kind of funny how Asante says it like that when he himself was a big free agent signing from the Pats a few years ago.

I dont understand why hes bringing this up right now. Its not like they are still trying to trade him. I think the moves the Eagles made were going to be effective, but the play calling hasnt been that great. The Eagles just appear to be blitzing a lot less than they normally would which doesnt work to Asantes and Nnamdi's talents.

But they haven't won a Super Bowl, and they won't. That's why it didn't work for New England in 2007. It just doesn't work.

Explain what makes a team drafting a bunch of lesser players in the draft more likely to win than someone who gets more talent through free agency?

Hey, we have more worse players than you do! We're more likely to win the SuperBowl!

You've yet to give a reason, other than saying it doesn't work.

You have now convinced me, David Tyree made one of the best (Luckiest) catches in NFL history to sink the Patriots because the Patriots signed key players through free agency.

they havent won it all because the one position they didn't sign a big free agent at, they drafted -- QB.

Not true at all. Sanchez is not the reason we lost those two AFC Championship games, he played really well in both of them.

You have a better chance of winning it all if you build a team through the draft (with a few FA's sprinkled in) for a couple seasons than if you just make it rain and sign every FA you can find.

I have a feeling that the Samuel situation isn't going to end well.
