The Mavs, Spurs, Grizz, Hornets, and Rockets make up the Southwest Division.

According to the article below, the Mavs and Spurs have some of the oldest teams in the NBA:

http://hoopism.com/?p=746

"Age Weighted for Minutes Played." In this, the Mavs are the oldest team, Spurs are the fifth oldest team. Rockets are the 13th oldest team, Hornets are 16th oldest, and Grizz are 28th oldest.

One has to believe that the time for the Mavs and Spurs are coming to a close, way too much age on those rosters from their biggest impact players. While teams like the Rockets and Hornets will presumably get younger.

What is the future of this division?

I'm interested in seeing how they play with Rudy Gay.

due to the success without him i was actually thinking they should shop him.
Gay's definitely a good player, but it's weird how sometimes adding a good player doesn't make you a better team.

You never know tho, If they can hold up their play and have Rudy contribute... great things can happen.

The thing with Memphis and Gay is that I don't know if he really fits into that teams identity.

Memphis wants to play tough and physical on each end. They want to control the paint and slow down the game a little. I believe they led the league in rebounding last season.

Gay is more of a athlete who likes getting up and down the court, and he sometimes gets out of control and takes bad ill adviced shots.
