ESPN.com - Jets coach Rex Ryan admits he messed up in his comments about the Chargers, New York's opponent this week.

"It was me, it's all on me. I'm guilty. Absolutely," Ryan said. "It was unintentional."

On Wednesday, the Jets coach made an off-hand comment when asked about the interview he had for the Chargers job that eventually went to Norv Turner in 2007.

"Well, I think I would have had a couple of rings," Ryan said. "I'm telling you, those teams were loaded."

The Chargers haven't won any championships. Ryan was hired by the Jets in 2009.

Does he really regret it or is he just saying that?

"It was unintentional."

If that were true, then there's no reason to apologize or call Norv Turner to explain what he said/meant.

Rex needs to stop with this stuff, it was all good and funny at first but now its just getting old. If he's gonna talk like this he should keep it to moderation. It sounds like he is worried about everybody else except for his own team; the Pats, the Cowboys and his brother, the Chargers, the Giants. Enoughs enough.

It wasn't unintentional, he does this nearly every week, sometimes worse than others, it just depends. He better just worry about his own team right now, because they aren't very good.

Or just not go back and apologize after.

Every week its either "I shouldn't have said that" or "thats not what I meant."

Exactly. I got no problem with a coach pullin a little smack talk on the coach he's going to face, but don't pull it back.

Either own up to it or don't say it at all.
