Someone out there is still hopeful. Amar’e Stoudemire is hopeful.

But if that hope is misplaced he has another idea.

Amar’e Stoudemire was making the rounds of the ESPN campus on Tuesday to pimp his new shoes, but all anyone wanted to talk about was how he couldn’t wear those shoes on a court right now. And will not be able to for a while.

Stoudemire is more optimistic than most of us right now.

“I think we’re pretty far apart, but the most important part is that we’re trying to work to get something done,” Stoudemire said while making appearances on “SportsCenter” and “ESPN First Take” at ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., headquarters to promote his new sneaker, the Nike Air Max Sweep Thru. “There are so many jobs at stake; their livelihoods are on the line. We’ll get a deal done eventually.”
But if that doesn’t really pan out, Stoudemire is down with the players forming their own league.

“If we don’t go to Europe, then let’s start our own league; that’s how I see it,” the 6-foot-11 forward/center said.

Stoudemire was asked to gauge “how serious” the idea is being considered.

“It’s very, very serious. It’s just a matter of us strategically coming up with a plan, a blueprint and putting it together,” he said. “So we’ll see how this lockout goes. If it goes one or two years, then we’ve got to start our own league.
Pro Basketball Talk

I don't know man. All seems kinda odd. Although I think he's talking more along the lines of kinda like, a street league. Just something to do, go from court to court outdoors in cities down south and play games. It's just something for these guys to do until the lockout ends. But if they're thinking of something on a larger scale, they're fucking crazy.

The NBA wouldn't allow them to start their own league.

If there's no CBA, they're not under any restrictions from the league. They can do as they please. They can go play WR or DE in the NFL if they fucking wish to.

So yall don't think the NBA would run a league like that into the ground?

The war that would start from that league against the NBA would be huge. It wouldn't be a competition. Who's going to pay the players salaries? How long will they stay aboard when they realize they aren't making nearly what they would make in the NBA?

TV contracts? You guys really think they could get a 10 year TV deal for like eight teams?

Travel?

Legit sponsors?

Where would they play?

The fact that the players would have to rely on others to help get this started, that would lead them back to where they are now. People will try and take whatever advantages they can, what about a CBA for this league?

It's not as easy as just showing up and playing. The NBA would run that league into the ground.

I don't think he meant a legit league. Just like the summer leagues they've been having.

Here's an idea, accept a fair 50-50 split, and get the NBA started again. No wait, they need 57% compared to the owners 43% share..

Let em play tho.
