NFL.com - The Colts will take a look at a pair of veteran journeymen quarterbacks because of the concussion starter Kerry Collins suffered on Sunday night against the Steelers.

Indianapolis has shown zero interest in David Garrard, instead inviting Dan Orlovsky and Brodie Croyle in for workouts on Tuesday.

Orlovsky spent time with the Colts during training camp.

I'd really like to see what Croyle could do, but I agree that they probably end up bringing Orlovsky back. They really should just give Painter the start, and if he doesn't play well, then play whoever they sign, because in all honesty he did look decent in that last game. Orlovsky will probably get signed over Croyle simply because he does know the system fairly well. He went through preseason with Indy, and didn't look too bad. Sounds like they are going to make a move though.

Update

Associated Press - The Colts have signed free agent quarterback Dan Orlovsky.

Orlovsky was with Indianapolis in training camp and the team is in need of a quarterback following the concussion suffered by Kerry Collins on Sunday night.

Looks like the Colts have made their choice, and it will be between Painter and Orlovsky. Collins appears to be benched for the time being after poor performance after poor performance. Orlovsky got the deal simply because he knows the offense and played decent through the preseason for them. Should be interesting to see if he gets any playing time.

Thoughts?

Brodie Croyle! Alabama! Yesss!

They should look at McIlroy, but I believe he has a broken thumb. (very smart QB though)

I don't...Then I'd have to deal with watching Pioli deal for him and sign him to a 60 million deal

SMH.

Orlovsky IS horrible.

And DJT, Being a "smart" QB doesn't make you good.. Also, McElroy isn't available.. if any team wanted his ass.. they sure could of had him since he was a bum ass 7th rounder.

He'll be nothing more than a backup in this league. See other Alabama QB John Parker Wilson.

Changing deck chairs on the Titanic, no? Might as well play Painter and see what they have because the Colts season is most likely lost.

Orlovsky is not THAT bad, he's not as bad as you make it out to be. I think he'd do more than Painter, but I guess the Colts are content with losing this year.. Now, I'm not saying he's anything special, but I do think he'd put them in better positions to win games.

Colts would be better with Painter.. he atleast knows the offense, has established a gel with the players from practice, etc over the years..

Painter also would have time to Gel.

Starting Orlovsky is fucking retarded.

??? Orlovsky was just with the Colts in the Pre-Season.. I'm sure he knows a good bit of the offense. Either way, the Colts are screwed.

Being in Indy for years > 1 preseason.

Colts dont open up all their plays during the preseason and don't give them to other players that might not be with the team.

Can't believe you didn't know this.

In the preseason, Colts are very vanilla.

I do know that, I just said he at least has a basic understanding of the offense, of course they didn't show him all of it, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I'm pretty sure most teams are vanilla in the preseason, not just the Colts. Like I said, either way, they are screwed. I don't see Painter carrying them to many wins, at least Orlovsky has some NFL experience, which is probably why they brought him in with Collins going down.
